Both of which are ugly IMO. The M50 actually looked good. Now it is just an under powered, under braking M90.

Would love to sit on one for comparison of the rider triangle.

What I like the LEAST about the 2010 is the headlight and the passenger pillion...change those two things and it's okay...not unique anymore, but tolerable.

Wonder if they simply switch the bar to get more pullback. If so, wonder if that bar will work on previous years?

Wonder if the 2010 rider seat will work on previous years. Sure looks more comfortable.

Most of us would change looks in one way or the other and paint a lot of it anyway.

The new M50 is definite *UGLY* It basically looks like a sub M90, sub sub M109. Combine this with Suzuki's cheap paint job

I'll keep my present M50 I had my M50 repainted because the classic M50s have the cheap Suzuki paint job which seems to be common with new Suzukis. I've also seen on the forum about the BKing using inferior paint with dealers trying to claim that the paint hasn't cured

Agreed - the angle of passenger seat and headlight cowling make it appear to be lurching forward...in a bad way...like when you stall your bike at a traffic light.

Just the other day on a stop from a wide, I missed a great photo up because I had no camera. Sky was crazy beautiful blue, white clouds and some gorgeous trees...all reflected in the headlight casing!

Great - first car I bought and drove for 13 years turned out to be the last year they made it. Every minor repair/replacement seemed to become a specialty order. I loved that car! Long live the Nissan NX 2000! At least they've been reborn into the underground amateur racing scene. BTW I've had my '08 M for about 3 weeks.

Agreed and curious as well. Star 950 and Kaw 900 Custom were also contenders before I bought the M, but they were just too heavy. The overall scale of the M50 fit me better...and was less intimidating. I have shaved down the seat and changed out the bars for better ergonomics...but I would have done a bar swap on the other two bikes as well...and definitely the seat on the Kaw 900.

Generally, those of us who are shy of 5'6 with shorter inseams (29ish) and withOUT ape long arms, who need something under 600 lbs in the cruiser world have very little to choose from. If they continue to make bikes as wide as an elephant it doesn't matter how low the seat is - you lose the vertical.

Because we, in America, have this fascination with size and power...whether we need it or not..., this displacement has virtually disappeared from the cruiser market. HD may be the only one still offering it. This was the last year for Yamaha's Vstar 1100...hince the 950 and updated 1300.

Default 2010 m50

The M50 started as a sports cruiser with sleek lines ...now in 2010...

The headlight looks terrible, the pillion seat looks like a box square foam pad, the sporty rear fender is smoothed out to be tame and what with the silver rims.....geeeeeesh

Looks like i will love my 05 M50 looooooooooooooooong time.

Ok. I agree with most of you. When I saw the picture the first time I couldn't stand it either. The back views with the seat cowl on look alot better. It does look alot like the M109R. I'm sure that's the whole point of the remodel. Like others have said before, the folks who can't afford the 109 or don't need all that extra but really like the styling are going to be drawn to this bike.

I also agree on the chrome engine covers. I don't like the chrome either. But you know what? I don't like the gloss black finish that my bike has either. I think, at least for me anyway, one of the changes over the years should have been to do the flat, wrinkle finish like Harley has. I've always liked the flat black look to the engine and it would set it off alot better from the gloss black frame and body parts. If there was a way that I could do it fairly easily on mine I would.

I can understand the changes. If the current style wasn't selling well then it was time to change it. I don't know how the sales numbers compare between the M models but if the M109 and the M90 are selling well then there must be something to the styling that people like. How long the styling stays popular is a question, especially with 3 bikes now sharing the same look. It kinda dilutes it and makes it not so distinct. I think it will do well for a couple of years but people are going to get burned out on the overall look of these bikes and it will be time for a new look.

Just my $.02 worth.

I've got 4 Suzuki dealer ships in my area and I stop by each one of them when I can. I've noticed all 4 have just one M50, the orange and black color, and they've been sitting there since Spring. I stopped at one of them to pick up my new helmet visor I had to order and asked about sales. The owner told me that he has never ordered more than 2 M50's a year because he has trouble selling them and has only ordered 1 M50 last year and this year. All these dealerships have about 8 C50's and atleast 3 109's and a couple of 90's. You would think after seeing all the people on this forum that the M50 was a popular bike but to the motorcycle buying public I guess it isn't. Could also be the part of the country I'm in as well affecting sales of the M.

I think location does have an impact, but so does the rising prices. Over $7k is a lot of money for an 800cc bike. I am not sure how the new ones are selling where I live, but the used ones go pretty quick. The dealers I frequent only keep 1 M109 if any. They had 1 M90 each, and the last I know they were still on the floor.

All suzuki is doing to the M series is the same thing they did to the GSXR series. Same styling across the engine lines with slight changes in suspension tuning and what not, and of course different size engines.

Saw this link that show that the new M50 has better horse/torque specs than before. Don't know if it's legit but if it is...it can back up the new look.

Uh, don't think 50hp is knocking the socks off the current model. Without searching, I think Dyno numbers are around 46 to 50 now. 2 ways to make it quicker - bump up the power or get rid of some wieght. If those specs are right, the M gained almost 50lbs.

Suzuki Boulevard M50
Using that link, and cross comparing to the 70-09 models on that same site, I found absolutely NO difference between the "older" models vs the 2010 model.

I still don't like it.

The whole headlight assembly might not be a crowd favorite, but I do like the new speedo.

I am assuming this is the Aussie model

I think your right about it being the one from down under. I was reading an Australian review of the 2010 model and it had some of the same pictures. I can't seem to find it now but when I do I'll post the site. I actually like the speedo!

Agreed - no problems with the speedo - glad it's still up and out front = useful. Plus you gain some space on the bar for GPS, etc.
