Default M50 Risers / Chin Spoiler

I was wondering if you have any M50 risers available - I would like to purchase a set.

I am also interested in the chin spoiler you mentioned on the forum - is that being produced yet?

Hi Chris,

I know we talked today and you ordered out your riser spacer blocks.
Thank you. I know you will enjoy them.
I find riding my M50 a real pleasure after adding them.

The Chin Spoiler is under development currently along with other custom items for the M50.
Here's my quick list I'm working on now for the M50:

Chin Spoiler

Sport fairing that pushes wind away from your hands and gets you good protection while riding in winter yet looks awesome and like only an M50 could look. I don't want a carbon copy of something people put on Hondas and Yamahas and Harleys.

Brake Resevoir cap/cover. No one has made a good replacement or cover for the M50. Some claim to make them but not for all the years from 2005 to 2009.

A custom light bar that places the lights within the fork tubes and bolts up to the bottom plate of the triple trees above the fender. This will include stock cat eye lights and a custom plastic molded bezel.

I am working on making available a set of chromed spike bolts for the front fender that match a set for the speedo and gas nacelle. I use these on my speedo now but they need developed for the front fender.

A quick on/off backrest bracket so you can ride solo and with a passenger and look cool when the bracket is off. The M50 rear fender is one of the neatest custom designs. Let it show off when you ride solo.

Also, passenger peg mounting tab cover plates. I like to ride mine solo only so I remove the passenger pegs. When I do I have two threaded holes for the passenger pegs and I don't like the look of this undone area. So I foresee a custom plate that bolts there.

I will also design some wall signs we can make for your garage to hang above your bike.

Many more items for the M50 coming.

Best,

Ken

Thanks for all your help and the speedy service, Ken. I am looking forward to, not only the risers, but also the other items you are currently working on.

Thanks Chris,

More to come. I'm working on a Chin Spoiler and some other billet aluminum dress up pieces just for the M50.
Also, a driving spot light set that is specific to the M50 as well.

an extended swing arm would be sweet...make 1 long enough so we don't need to change the shaft on the c90 drives?

I'd like the risers. Have sent an email.

Personally I would like to see brackets for the replacement of the front signal lights. I was thinking a 54mm clamp with 10mm threaded or 12mm non-threaded holes and a groove for the wires to run through. Similar to the original plastic crap, but able to take any of the aftermarket LED replacement signal lights. I like where the lights are at the moment and don't want a full bar at the front. I just want smaller, clear lensed LED lights to match the rear of my M.

Thanks for the grand job you're doing already.

Looking forward to seeing this design. Hopefully it can be made to be less "visually heavy" than the OEM mounts. The option of using only the luggage rack attached to the mount would be cool too. See 5-18 post by rbarrea: http://www.motorcycle-journal.com/fo...tml#post450019. I think this would look better with the pillion on, so there is not a sudden vertical jump from the funder up to the rack.

I've been spending a lot of time looking at the M and thinking about what will work best for me on the back. Love the looks of the back, but I use my bike for the practicality of commuting as well. I ride solo and don't favor saddle bags...I prefer the more convenient position of a bag on the rear seat/fender. The "hooker type" universal mount system that came with my Kury Grantour Bag mounts under the pillion seat and makes connecting any bag with lower d-rings a snap. For longer trips I might some Kury throwovers since I've read on here they do find without supports...keeps the clean look when the bags are off. I guess I could even throw them over a solo rack and set the Grantour on top of that. Hopefully still would need supports if the rack was almost as high as the pillion, not sure.

I really love the look of the M with a solo seat, fender bib and solo rack - which from what I've seen and read, no one actually makes for the M...they all have to be tweaked. So, maybe a solo rack actually made for the M would be cool...and maybe one that extends further back on the fender. No Photoshop to play with it.

Just thinkin'...

I got the spacers in the mail today... I've installed them in 30 minutes flat. Not need for those double nutting. You are not going to used the studs, so Just use a good set of 18 inch pipe wrench and just get them out. More leverage and less time. Only thing I did take my time on was to protet the finish on the bike. I used my old carpet, cut it to fit everywhere. It was easier then I thought. By the way, I did the job solo and I am only 5'6", 150lbs. If I could do it solo, anyone can. Just take the time to "PROTECT WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO IMPOVE" and love. Amen.

Has anyone tried installing 2 pairs of risers?

By the way, one pair works wonders for comfort, this is why I'm considering stacking one on top of another!!

Yes, we have one gal rider down in South Carolina who did install two pairs.
She said they worked, all you need to do is route cables and hose behind the bars and triple trees but no problem.

Best,

Installed then on my bike within 45 min... only thing I did different from instruction was... I did not double nut the studs... I just took my time protecting my bike with carboard and towels then took the studs out with a 18 in pipe wrench. Stud are not to be used again so, why bother?

Hey Cooley,

I know you fab risers. This is another question about other fabrications. Well what I am basically looking for is the opposite of forward controls. I am looking to have my feet a little closer to me, to get a visual of what I'm talking about just think of a jockey's riding position, where your knee is at a 90 degree angle. This will provide me with better handling and control of the bike.

Sorry I know this thread is for risers, but I figured its the best way to get a hold of you since it has more recent replies.

Might have to give these a try just to see how the change feels. Are they still available and, if so, where and what's the ticket?

Thanks.

We are making more sets and have them in stock now.

Call 800-779-6925 to order and pay with credit card or email us at ken@shape-master.com and pay by Paypal if you would like.

We just need your ship to address and method of shipment you desire.

For those of you in other countries including Canada let us know if you want USPS and insured or not.

We have found USPS flat rate to be the best. We can get shipments of our spacers to Brazil and Spain for less than $12.00 many times.

Cost is $55.00 to all forum participants. We sell for more on ebay.

Best,

CooleyM50

We are continuing to make the spacer blocks for the M50. If you have an interest just give us a call or email.
ken@shape-master.com
1-800-779-6925

We are working on designs for a Chin Spoiler for the M50 along with a number of other custom parts. If you would like to be added to a list for possible interest just email me
and put custom mod's in the subject line.

As an M50 rider I feel no company rose to the occassion to help us out with trick parts we can just bolt on for cool looking customizations. I don't know about you but I would like more to be available. Now that they are changing our bike design for 2010 I think we will have less options.
I hope to make parts to give us an option.
Thanks for your support.

Ken, I know I am being pedantic, but could you please correct the spelling of handlebar in the thread title. Cheers

Actually I'm not sure how it got spelled that way. I didn't establish that "sticky"

I do not know how to edit the title, perhaps a moderator could do that for us.

Thanks

Bosshart19 has asked about our riser blocks.
Yes, they are still available.
You may phone me at 800-779-6925 or email to ken@shape-master.com

We are making these along with other parts for the M50 as a labor of love.
We cover our costs and postage.

If you want UPS which is what we typically ship by it will run around $11.00 UPS insured to your door.
If you want USPS or some other shipping method let us know and we'll get you a quote.

Risers to Forum member/users only are $55.00 per set.

Our riser blocks are being used on the new M90 as well.

We include instructions and full hardware package.

Change out is about 30 minutes and you'll be glad you did.

I ride a 2008 M50 yellow and black and love the bike now that I've put these blocks on the risers.

Take a look at the photos on this forum and you'll see how nice they look.

Thanks for asking.
