Default 200 dollar mistake

Big kudos to Ken and Jeff. Thanks guys.

Mantissa: In case you haven't got the studs out yet, I had the bar resting on the tank with a bunch of padding. I did apply some heat (about 20 sec. per side of the stud). I applied the nuts & lock-washer then stood on the left side of the bike with the left grip clenched between my thighs. With a couple taps of a rubber mallet on the box-end wrench the stud came right out. My voice is still just as deep as it always was.
I'm not sure I would replace it.
Can you have a helicoil put in or perhpas weld up the hole and drill and tap?
I would try a helicoil first.
Over drill, over tap (in size) helicoil and put back together.
Just a thought.

BTW, Has she commented on if she likes the change or not?
She loves them! We did 250 miles Saturday and she had no complaints about her reach! I lowered it 2" for her too prior to the ride. She is ready to ride at a whim now! I think she likes her bike better than me.
Can't get no better than that.

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE: WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

i'm too lazy to use the coils i haven't run into a problem where i've needed one yet.
but from everything i've heard, they are the bomb.

for something like the risers i'd prolly use the coils

Thumbs up Additional Pics & comments

Thanks Ken Cooley for a nice product and amiable support!

The installation went pretty smoothly, and I'm very happy with the extra height & slight pull back.

I've added a few pix to further clarify on the installation.

hanglebar risers for M50 available again-bolts-pointing-out.jpg hanglebar risers for M50 available again-stud-side-view.jpg hanglebar risers for M50 available again-bottom-riser.jpg hanglebar risers for M50 available again-risers-taped.jpg

Definitely get an extra set of hands to hold down the handlebar. I also used a heat gun to loosen the studs - which are VERY tightly screwed on - the heat made a HUGE DIFFERENCE!

Overall an easy do-it-yourself and worthwhile mod.

God speed!!!

I am ordering some and was wondering if the cables and such are long enough to accomodate the extra rise.

Default Riser install

Hey everyone, love the risers and install went great. Took about 45 mins. For those of you tat will install risers in the future, a impact wrench makes removal of studs a breeze. Thanks again ken for a job well done and lookinf forward to seeing chin spoiler.

Default Chin Spoiler Development

Glad you asked about the Chin Spoiler.

It is under development now.

My question is if those of you who might want this would be interested in a chin spoiler that afixes to your current radiator cover or a full replacement of the radiator cover that encorporates a chin spoiler?

I would love to have comments on this.

What I am considering now after having removed the radiator cover and found that it could be mounted to that perhaps a light weight plastic chin spoiler would be cheaper and quick to mount on the radiator cover.

Thanks,

Ken

Either way is good for me, the only thing would be if it afixes to the current cover it can't look like an 'after thought'. Whichever way makes it so it blends in and flows and looks like it should be there.

That's my 2 cents.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. If you seen my other posts, I've already replaced it. It wasn't 16 hours and I'd already visited the dealer and placed the order.

I wasn't purposefully ignoring the help. I didn't read your suggestions in time. I wasn't paying attention to this thread since I already had my risers and posted my feedback. For practice I might do as you suggest with the stripped original. I've never done a helicoil insert before.

Whether I had done as you suggested or bought a replacement, it was something of a penance for being to anxious with the install. Sometimes I gotta be taught a few times before it becomes ingrained.

By the way, I'm still loving the new riding position.
