Default Need to Pick at Your Minds for bit!!

Alright, went for a ride today. About 30 mins on some backroad twisties and then I got on the highway for a quick 10 minute ride home. Well I was on the highway for about 1.5-2 miles doing about 75ish and I went to pass someone on the left, I get about halfway around his car before I start slowing down..... but I'm hearing engine noise/Exhaust so the bike hasnt turned itself off.... I'm still slowing down and I get back behind him to get reasy to pull off to the shoulder when BAM there it is again, got back down to about 67mph and I had a perfect bike again. Accelerated back up to about 70-72ish and kept that steady for about another 2 miles when BAM there it is again, NOTHING bike is still on and everything seems fine except for the fact that I have 0% acceleration. Bike slows down another 5-10mph (I notice this time that the *CHECK* lettering came up on the screen.... Just as I noticed that the bike has power again and I accelerate till I get off the highway and ride through town with no further incidents..... So What The Heak was going on?!!

I posted a few days ago about something that may indeed be related, but I dont know. I'll try to find it and link it.

We have a problem...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well more like I have a problem.

I went for a ride today (about 45mins) easy backcountry riding. After the ride I pulled in to braums for some ice cream. I come back to the bike with my pint of ice cream, ready to take home and eat....then....nothing..

I go to start the bike and everything sounds as it should, the buzzing startup, and then I go to actually hit the start button and I hear a slightly audible pop (single noise) from around where the battery would be. I go to try again and the same thing, then it starts getting weird. I turn the key off then back on and there is nothing, no response, no start up sounds or lights, nothing at all, completely dead.

So I figure there must be a fuse or a wire that has blown or rubbed. It's a 2005 model with 24,000 miles on it. I put a new battery in not more than two months ago and it hasnt been dead once. I took everything off and got down to the battery to check the connections. They were fine and I tried starting again to no avail..... So anyone have any great troubleshooting ideas? I guess I'm going to just take the tank and the ignition covers off and take a look at all the wiring and goodies under the 'hood'. Let me know if you have any ideas...

I had to push the bike home 9 blocks uphill, with a pint of melted ice cream
