Default Lumpectomy HOW TO w/PICS

Lumpectomy HOW TO w/PICS
st Remove the rear bolt that holds your rear seat, and remove it.
nd Remove the 2 bolts that hold your front seat, and remove that.
rd Remove at least 1/2 of the staples holding your leather on.See pic 1
th Remove the foam and protective plastic covering carefully, and peel the leather to the front of the seat.See pic 2
th Cut out the hump, use your tool of choice ,I used a 4 1/2 inch angle grinder with a cut off wheel.See pic 3
th Fabricate a replacement piece to fit the hole you just made.(I just did a tile job,so I had a masonry tools around.I sacrificed a couple to complete this job.)See pic 4
th Mark holes and drill the metal and the plastic, being sure you make a very small hole. You may need to notch your metal plate See pic 5-6
th You can now attach the piece to your seat by using short screws or rivets ,depending on what you have.See pic 7
th Mark the holes for your rear seat bracket, and drill them to size (5/16 or metric 8mm)
th insert the bracket from the inside out.
th you can now take the rear seat bracket, and beat it near flat.
th I had to spin that bracket 180,and use the rear 1/2 in the front.
th Mount the bracket you just bent to the seat bracket (already attached).See pic 8
th Check for clearance the nuts can not stick up past the rubber mounts the seat sits on.See pic 9
th Grind off the extra bolt, and maybe a little of the nut.
th Now fill the hole with your padding of choice..again I used what I had here a (sponge)
th I cut the padding to fit the hole ,and inserted in in the foam of the seat.
th Then place the plastic over your foam.
th Place the foam on the plastic part of your seat being sure to line it up real good.
th Check your inserted padding to be sure it is in place.
st Then peel your leather back over your seat.
nd Stretch your leather into place, and staple it (I used arrow T50 1/4 inch staples)
rd With the bracket you bent flat now spun 180* you can attach it to your bike.
th Install your seats
th Ride,and enjoy.
on a later observation I see I didn't get the plastic straight, and I seen wrinkles starting to form..So I pulled the leather off again to straighten the plastic protective covering.
Be sure you do it right the 1st time.

I rate this a 1 out of 5 wrenches difficulty.
