I am currently running debaffeled stock pipes with DJ's FebroSleeves installed, and mickey plates still in tact. I like the sound as is, but I recently purchased a K&N air filter, and am getting ready to get a Bully processor, and to drill the holes in the bottom of my air cleaner cover, to increase air flow, per the Bully supplied pattern. I want to get the most out of this upgrade, so I am considering removing the mickeys. My concern is that I have read conflicting reports on the results of removing the mickey plates. I had originally thought that the predominant opinion was that it caused a loss of HP and/or torque. Lately, however, I seem to be picking up that removing the mickey's actually, if anything, increased HP and/or torque, as long as you do not remove that last plate beyond the mickeys. Also this seems to lower the tone, for an even better sound, especially with full length FibroSleeves, which I plan to install if I go ahead and demickey my pipes. 1) I would deeply appreciate it if those of you who have demickeyed could post your opinions regarding resulting HP and/or torque. 2) How does the sound compare to debaffeled with short fibrosleeves? 3) How hard is it to knock these plates out? Is there any risk of damage to the rest ot the pipe, or to the bike from the pounding? Thanks for any and all comments........... |
