Default Fan possibly not running

I remember several people have problems with their fan on this bike, but a search did not bring up those posts.

When I bought the bike, I remember the fan coming on when I parked it after a ride, and if I sat still for a period of time with it idling. Then I noticed that I didn't here that any more.
I decided to check it out and went out today, started the bike, and just let it run for well over 5 minutes. I kept checking the fan and it never came on. It was cool out, but not cold.
FYI - When I adjusted the clutch Friday night, I had the side cover off and noticed that the coolant level was right on the FULL line, so I am reasonably sure that I have not over heated and lost coolant.

Q1) How long would the bike need to idle before the fan would come on?
Q2) How can I check to see if the fan motor works?
Q3) What would be the most likely issue causing the fan not to work?
Q4) Is the fan hard to remove? I see that you have to move the radiator out of the way.

Any other info on the fan on this bike would be very welcome.
