I just bought an 06 M50, I love the bike but my clutch won't disengauge. This is my first bike btw. Here's the story! I can't ride yet, so my buddy rode my bike home for me. He said it rode fine. When he got home, he said if he left the bike in first gear and held the clutch in, (essentially disconnecting the engine) it felt like something was dragging and would not roll very easy. If he left the bike in neutral, the bike rolls fine. This was all with the bike off. So I assumed " alright, the clutch isn't completely letting go. " So I used my haynes manual and adjusted the cable. Well now it's worse. When I fire up the bike, if i put it in first while holding the clutch, it jumps and dies. So now my clutch really won't disengauge. I am adjusting it bang on to spec, I'm no idiot when it comes to mechanics. Plus, it's a very simple procedure. Here's the really weird part: This is all with the bike off. The bike is in first, I pull in the clutch, the bike won't roll at all, so the clutch won't disengauge. I click it in to neutral, without letting go of the clutch, I roll the bike a little, click it back to first, and now the bike rolls slighty like the clutch is partially disengauged, but dragging a bit. If I let go of the clutch and re apply the clutch. The bike won't roll again while in first. Any Ideas? This is really weird. I've adjusted the cable three or four times with the same results. I think the reason why the bike was able to ride before is because the set screw on the return mechanism was set to tight. So the clutch would let go, but not fully engage. Either that, or I broke something the first time I tried to adjust it. |
