Question Load equalizer help!

I installed some custom turn signals onto my M50 - I'll get some pics and more info about that posted soon - and I ended up needing a load equalizer. I had never installed one or even spliced into wiring before, but the job seemed pretty straight-forward. I used splicers just like these ones to tap into the green and black wires that feed the rear turn signals. I clipped the splicers onto the turn signal wires and then stuck the load equalizer wires into the other hole. I then used pliers to push the piece of metal down into the wires until the metal was flush with the plastic on the outside, and then turned the L-shaped piece of plastic around and clipped it over the piece of metal to protect it.

I tapped into the wires just in front of the connector to the rear lighting, right under the seat. I think I did everything right, but the turn signals still blink really fast. I thought I had wired it incorrectly, but there are two thoughts that come to mind:
  1. If I spliced the turn signal wires wrong, they wouldn't work anymore because they would essentially be cut.
  2. The load equalizer unit does seem to get a little warm when the lights are on (engine off). So current has to be running through it, right?

That really just leaves one possibility, as far as I can tell: I installed the load equalizer's wires incorrectly somehow. It would explain why the turn signals still work but are still blinking fast. That said, is it even possible to redo the splicers? Like I said, I've never done this before so I'm afraid that if I try to remove the splicers, I'll be left with cut turn signal wires. What should I do now? Oh, and it's worth noting that I replaced the front and rear signals with custom LED signals. I wouldn't need more than one load equalizer, would I?

Thanks guys!
