The V that powers our bike has fairly low compression. Now I am no engine knowledgeable person, but I was wondering if anyone had ever bored out an M50 engine and put in bigger pistons, or maybe if anyone had ever done that with an 800 Marauder? I know that with the Bandit 1200 which was actually an 1156, people had bored it out and put in bigger pistons, making it a 1216, and adding considerable power. Now that was distributed over 4 cylinders, so my guess is that with a V-twin (2 cylinders) one couldn't take as much material out without compromising the integrity. That said though, would it be possible? How about larger engines that fit in an M50's frame? |
