Default Victory

I stopped by a Victory dealership today just to browse around.. Found myself thinking of a way to break it to my wife that the M50 I just purchased in June is too small. We'll see in the spring how that goes. In the meantime has anyone heard anything bad about the Victorys?? Like the Kingpin the best. It had a special paintjob and upgraded axe wheels priced around $15,500. What do you guys think?

Hmmmmm. On a M50 site saying that you want a different bike after just 3 months....................Um, not smart. Them's fightin' words round these here parts. (in my best southern accent - even though I'm from Michigan and don't talk that way)

Well Victorys are nice. Don't really know what else to tell you. We kind of just like talking about how much we like our M50's.

Don't get me wrong.. I love it.. The looks are perfect... But drive a lot of highway (70 mph) and you know the feeling... It just seems like its struggling.. I know that it's not just getting greedy. I do the same thing with cars. I know the M50 do have power. I was going 70 today and hit the throttle and yes there was a boost of power still. Surely not talking down on our M50. Just fell in love with this bike.

Just bustin' your chops man. I like alot of different bikes. I once even posted that I secretly have a mancrush on the..............shhhhhhh!........Victory Vegas Low. Sweeeeet ride.

But. I'm still lovin' my Fitty!

BTW: I'm not either one of those large older men in the picture! Dear God I hope I don't live long enough to look like that.

1) It's not liquid cooled (only oil cooled... not as good).

2) Too much money for what you get.

That's all I have to say about that.

my buddy has a custom Victory Vegas. Stock, they are really decent and have alot of 'go' to them. When you tinker with it (engine upgrades, etc) I would bet there is not a bike in Northwest IN, or Chicagoland that can beat my buddies. However with performance there comes a pricetag that is hefty.

It's $16,000!!! There are a lot of beautiful bikes out there at any price, but I think Victories are overpriced.

Beautiful styling - their designers know their stuff, I have to admit.

The thing that would bug me most (and I know bugs some Victory riders that I ride with) is gas capacity. It is double the displacement of our M50, and yet holds only four-tenths of a gallon more than an M50. On a long ride down to Mt Rainier and back this spring, our friends riding Victories had to stop four times for gas, while we stopped twice. If you put a lot of miles on your bike, then that is going to irritate you. With my commute, that would mean gassing up every other day instead of every 4-5 days.

If power is your main concern, spend $600 and put on some aftermarket exhaust, a K&N air filter, and a PCIII. See if that makes you happier before you take the monster depreciation hit on a 3-month-old M50 and buy another bike that costs well over double (and be realistic - by the time you pay taxes/fees and put on some custom touches, you are going to be hitting close to $20K)

Bingo if i was going to pop out 20 grand i would get a used loaded up goldwing not a 20 grand polaris at least the sucker would be comfortable
!!!!!

ps my m50 now runs pretty stroung on the highway with the mods i have done far better then with out them its simply a power to weight ratio now, the m50 modded up a bit will stay with those bikes all day long

a buddy of mine let me try his jackpot and comfort wise i thought it was a lot more comfortable than it looked.i was a bit stretched out on it being 5'8" but overall not bad.powerwise....yehaaa,plenty of giddyup.my one complaint was with that 250 rear tire,i couldnt turn that thing.i'm sure with more than like 5 miles under my belt i would have figured it out but going from the m to that was a trip.overall i loved the bike, very stylish like our m's are but a lot of money at the same time.so if money is taken out of the equation and you like the bike i say go for it.

I ride every day as long as it doesn]n't rain and I go 160 miles round trip and 100 miles of that is on the interstate I ride 75 to 80 mph I think the bike is just right I pass just about everything lol sep the gas station lol because at thoughs speeds the gas goes fast with ANY BIKE unless the rpms are below 3000

just my opinion

I've ridden two Victorys and found both wanting in several respects. First was vibration in the handlebars at virtually all speeds. Second was the thought of depreciation -- used Victorys in MN take a terrible beating in price, like over $5000 the first year!

I liked the ride and handling of the Kingpin Touring I rode this summer during an open house at their world headquarters. Brakes were just fine, shifting a little clunky but okay. Seat comfort was hard to measure on a 30 minute ride, but seemed okay too.

I rode a Kingpin standard last year and found I forced an upshift every time I put my feet on the floorboards. Seems I hit the heel part of the heel/toe shifter -- it was in the way. It could be removed of course and I'd do that if necessary.

Highway speeds were effortless. Lots of torque for passing, but again the handlebar vibration would keep me from owning one. I'll clarify that by saying I'm very sensitive to handlebar vibration, noticing it on many bikes I've ridden. I usually have to install oversized bar end weights and grip overlays to quell most of it.

Ray Nielsen, in Minneapolis.

Sounds like finding a good deal on a used one wouldn't be a bad idea.

As far as me owning one... I looked, I liked, I'm going to continue on with the M. It's my style, and fun as hell to mod/ personalize.

cjasper.... Not catching what your laying down? Your saying I wouldnt get that bad of gas mileage because I wouldn't be running that high of RPM's? I ride about 50 miles round trip. 20 being interstate and the other 30 secondary highways. Right now I fill up once a week, if I don't go riding.
