Default Power Commander III usb cable

I was wondering....Would there be any harm if I left the USB cable hooked into the PCIII?
Rather then remove the seat..couldnt I just cap off the cable, and secure it so I could just hook it up,and go?
or
Could that cause damage ? or give some sort of false reading?

If its just a normal usb cable, then no there shouldn't be any harm leaving it plugged in. Just make absolutely sure the open end is sealed tight. All you would need is a little dirt or water to get in there and you'd be out of a cable. But besides that it should be fine.

I leave mine plugged in, I pack it in a plastic zip-lock bag, and leave it in the tool box, so I can get to it,without taking seat off.
