Default Update On Memphis Shades Big Shot Install

In the last 2 days I tried every possible height and angle I could think of (have some scratches on the top sides of my forks for my efforts) and could not get it to work for me. So much wind and noise around my helmet and or so much buffeting on my head it was giving me a head ache. I took it off this afternoon. Maybe one day I try one of the boat sail types but for now I'll ride without and have to continue using my full face helmet.

If anyone wants to try it check ebay in a day or two. I would not recomend even trying it unless you are 5'8'' or less.

Just finished raising mine. It's one of the tallest you can get and I'm only 5'5". It is set now with the top edge at eye level or a tiny bit above so I can look through it or over as the need arises.

Combined with a slightly more upright angle it made a WORLD of difference.

Some like the wind/bugs in their hair, ears, teeth, nose, etc. but I don't.

Good luck with your quest.

yep, i do....friends keep telling me how nice it is with a windshield, but i love the wind in my face and the look of a sleek bike w/o a shield....bugs really aren't bad...there is one road i go down (back country style road) at night that I might catch one or 2

I have also tried this windshield, as well as the alley cat and the pop top. How tall are you? I am about 5'10" and the best way I have found is all the way up and raked back as far as possible. But it doesn't eliminate buffetting entirely, more like rattles the brain enough to be annoying. Were you able to rake it back all the way?
I have even heard that having a smaller winshield might be better from a dealer. So I might go back to the pop top for comparison.
Have you tried lowers? I have heard that this helps b/c the wind coming up from the legs are interfering with the wind coming over the helmet.

I have this windshield, but I don't get how you guys are adjusting the angle of the thing. I can move it up and down my forks, but I don't get angle adjustments.

You take out the top bolt that connects the windshield to the fork mounts out and push the top of the windsheild back enough so that you can put that bolt through one of the two openings in the bracket that is attached to the windshield. I can only push it back enough to get it in the first one. But this way you can rake it back.

The other holes/slots in the mounting brackets are sized to accept the mounting hardware too, and can be used. They arn't there just for looks. Now go and explore your new setting options!
