rolled over 14K today and the season just started. If 18K is when the clutch goes, looks like i'll have work to do in a couple months.

My M50 is a 2007 and as of today (May 3rd, 2009) it has 982 kilomters (610 miles) on the odometer....but....I just got it...sooo.....give me a week and I'll see what I can do to fix this low mileage issue.

picked it up in late October of 2006 and have just under 5,000 miles. Plan on doing something about this low number this summer. It's the Summer of John

18K is when the clutch goes? I'm over 29K and I've never replaced the clutch. Valve adjustments, oil changes, and tires, that's all here

Default Got twisties......?

I think I just rolled over 46,550 Miles,I haven't been around in a while. I've been....um riding. It rains a bit here so I'd have more. I have not had any trouble with the bike. I can't say anything bad about it. It's a great bike. I have had an issue lately, last couple weeks I have had FI light come on. Not sure what the problem is yet. The bike runs fine ,it's a fail safe mode, just tells you there is a sensor not getting a signal, annnnd there is I think 15 sensors on the M50. So I have some checking to do. Most likely a loose connection. Other than that no problems at all. Ride 'em if you got 'em.
Peace~mike

this poll should fluctuate for those that the mileage has increased...
somehow we should be able to take the poll again, like during the riding months.

In many forum software packages you can set the poll to allow for vote changes. I'm not sure about this one but a mod or the original poster may be able to turn this feature on.

Mine hasn't changed much due to having a boat and the crappy weather during the week.

I see sevaral mentions of clutch replacement. Based on my experience with Jap bikes the cause is usually weak, sacked out, clutch springs. I've replaced just the springs on my 2005 M50 after noticing that the clutch lever pull was way too soft compared to when new, this being noticeable at about 26K miles on my bike.

The springs were way too short, and the plates measured withing specs for new plates so only the springs were replaced. I used KG Clutch Factory Heavy Duty springs and am very satisfied with the results. Slightly harder clutch pull, but still not bad. Shift quality has improved, but I'm at a loss to explain that. Clutch action seems better too, but that's probably due to a bit firmer engagement.

I believe the key to long clutch life on most motorcycle is proper adjustment of the clutch release machanism including the cable. On the M50 the owner's manual has a very good, accurate adjustment procedure. Begin by loosening the handlebar adjuster, then the cable adjuster just above where the cable enters the engine side cover. Finally or perhaps firstly, adjust the bolt that activates the pushrod going through the engine cases to the clutch lifter cover. Then follow up by setting the proper cable adjustment using the two cable adjustment points, the handlebars and the engine side cover locations. I like to keep about 7/8" to 1" of slack at the END of the clutch lever, that's easily approximated by using the inside of your index finger -- the distance from the first joint to the second is about an inch. A handy guide and you'll always have it along on a ride.

Just my two bits worth on the subject.

Bought new in June of '07, a few hundred shy of 24k right now. Trying to keep up my 1000/month average.
