| Went for a ride on Monday and noticed when I revved up I had black smoke coming out. Called the shop and they said to check the air filter for oil - none there. The bike is only a month old. Does anyone have any other ideas on what's going on? |

| Noticed the smoke about an hour into the ride. When we stopped for coffee we had a better look at it. The bike only sat for half an hour at timmies but starting it up, it was a little more noticeable.

Smoke coming out of tail pipe (that is not just water vapor)...... BACK TO THE DEALER. Something is not right; doesn't matter what. Sounds like it is WAY rich.....maybe enough to be getting fuel into the oil. Riding it a lot like that may cause serious damage (not likely but possible). I certainly would not chance it with "my" new bike.

It's likely just one of those weird things that happens every once in a while. If it happens again then talk to the dealer. | |

If you have alot-most do-the revving of the bike is pushing out the black soot. Black soot is carbon build up or whatever the crap is from the bike running little rich. This is just my best guess |

| Black Smoke is Gas Blue Smoke is Oil Mine was blowing Blue Smoke for a little while, took it back to the dealer and they said nothing was wrong, and asked me to run a different gas for a couple of tanks and see if it clears up................Sure enough it did, I got some bad gas, or some gas that was put in a tank that had oil in it previously. After I put the fuel processor in mine, it would blow Black Smoke if I got on it hard (kinda like an old Chevrolet Qudrajet Carb). If it's Black Smoke, I wouldn't worry too much. Just my 2 cents..............

| Thanks for all the replies! I'm changing the oil tomorrow since it hasn't been done yet and it's time... We'll see if that helps any, one guy thought that some gas may have made it's way into the oil at the dealership.... If not I have an appointment next Wednesday where I bought it. Thanks again! |

| Obvious black smoke from a new bike that hasn't been modded (intake, exhaust, fuel processor) needs to be looked at. With a properly adjusted fuel-injected bike, you shouldn't really see any visible exhaust unless you have just started it up, or have REALLY cranked on the throttle. I hope it is a simple fix! |
