Default What I did on my summer vacation.

Hi everyone,

This last week was my summer vacation. I had been planning mods all year and finally had time to do them. It was great. I had vacation but my wife had to work.

Over the last week I:

1. Fabricated and installed my dual head lamp setup.
2. Installed a power commander.
3. Installed Jardine 2 into 1 pipes. I'm still tuning it (gonna make some baffles).
4. Finished up and installed my air box mod. (I need to refinish it though).
5. Installed a stainless steel brake line and put in new fluid. The front brake is very strong now.
6. Prepped and painted my Linby bar. (The bar came off of a wrecked C50 so I had to grind some scuffs off).
7. Installed pro-grip 717 gel grips and Manic Salamander bar end weights. No vibration on the highway now.
8. Added Kuryakyn wide levers. Very luxurious.

I also did a full service (except for valves). Changed all the fluids, new plugs.
And gave the bike a bath and a coat of wax.

Here are some pictures:

This is the headlamp set up.

Two adjure Sunset 5.75 in bucket, with Adjure wave cut black dot headlamps. These things throw a lot of light.

It took me three tries to get it wired correctly. The first time I had the hi and low backwards. Then I had one hi and one low. The third time I managed to get it right. I only blew one fuse during the operation.

Some views of the Linby bar and exhaust. I'll post some close ups of the air kit mod after I refinish it.

Default Last ones.

A view of the grips and the bar end weights.

That is a baron customs star bar. It provided 2 inches more bull back than stock. That coupled with 075M50Limited's risers put the grips right where I want them.

I have the GIVI wing rack kit with the top case mount/luggage rack on it. It is actually behind the rear seat.

I was planning to get that same bar. Did you have to change your cables with the new bar? Did you have to drill any holes in the bar for your controls?

I cut 2 inches from both ends of the bar when I got it. This allowed me to use the stock cables. I still had to route the throttle cables behind the triple tree and push the brake lever about an 1/2 inch further up the bar than where it is now.

I did drill holes for the controls. If you look closely you will notice the switch boxes don't point in exactly the same direction.

Vibration had always been a problem. I was running those Kuryakyn ISO grips so there were no end weights on. I took those off and went with the current set up and vibration is no longer an issue.

Baron's does make weighted bar ends for the Kury Iso-Grips BA-7401-00 - Barons Bullet Grip Ends for Kuryakyn ISO Grips if anyone is interested.

You can also install a Barsnake to solidify the handlebars which will dampen the vibration as well Stop Bad Vibes with Bar Snake! ©2007 Barsnake LLC; All Rights Reserved

Mod's look good. I'm interested to know more about the air box mod. Also did you notice an increase in performance?

I have noticed an increase in performance.

To mod the air box I took a coping saw and a rasp to the stock air box. I used some self tapping screws, a 5 inch to 4 inch irrigation pipe reducer and JB-weld to put it back together. The shape that resulted is the minimum I could get while still keeping the IAT sensor in the same position. The filter housing is a 4 inch unit from Pepboys.

I was going for as small an air box as possible.

I am aware of the bar snake and ISO grip weights. My solution provides a superior result, plus my bike doesn't look like everyone else's.

Wow Marc, you made me come out from my board anonymity to say great job on the dual headlight mod. I was wondering if you could PM me some tips and tricks on doing this since ever since I bought my bike a little while back I have always wanted the dual lights up front.
