Default Where did all the M50's go?

It's been like 3 months since either of the 2 Suzuki dealers around here had one in. Anyone having a similar experience now? As popular as this bike apparently is, I'd try to keep a good stock on hand is I was a dealer.

M50s aren't as popular as you would think. Comparing to many other cruiser styles they don't sell much.

Also Suzuki dropped the ball big time this year on the manufacturing end. "Poor" sales LY made them slow down production on all bikes. Resulting in not having enough bikes avaliable for all dealers to maintain a heavy inventory. My brother is a sales director for a dealer and lucky for them Suzuki is only 25% of his sales. Some dealers I've heard are hurting really bad.

I believe it. The local Honda / Yamaha dealer has an empty floor most of the time. Only stuff they can keep in stock is whatever isn't selling well locally.

Actually, M50s sell very well. There are many reasons why dealers don't have many on the showroom floor. Here a thread about it: here

I saw my first other M50 a few days ago in a parking lot in Birmingham.

The dealer closest to me has been out of stock on anything below 900cc for months, and that includes Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki. I got lucky and showed up the day after an M50 came in on trade. With high gas prices, people are looking for mid-size cruisers, and the shortage of M50's shows we have one of the best bikes in the class.

You're right about that. I meant to say penetration nation wide of the M50 is not as high as others. There are regions that sell them very well. I'm glad I don't see that many. Makes me feel good when I pull up break neck as I roll by.

It's been a while since I saw one in my local Suzuki dealer, but I've seen a lot more of them on the road this year than last year so they have to be coming from somewhere.

I bought my 07 new this April. It had been sitting at the dealership for a while, and it was the only one they had. The other 2 dealers near me, didn't have any either. As of a couple of weeks ago, none of them have any.

I've only seen two. One being my own, the other I saw being ridden sometime last year!

Had another random M50 sighting last night on Hulen street by the Red Hot & Blue. Dang there are a bunch of them in Ft. Worth. Saw a different one going down I-30 a couple weeks ago, and I'd never met either rider.

I was @ Yamaha/Suzuki East today picking up my bike (4000mi service) and no cruisers on the floor below 1000cc, 1 C90, a few 109s and several big Yamis-all the smaller/beginner, more fuel efficient bikes are on the road.

(Oh yah, and 3 BKings if anyone wants one)

I've been looking for new m50s in the Memphis area and there aren't any. One dealer said that Suzuki will not ship anymore due to their annual show in Vegas late September. (This includes shipping of any 2008 bike.) They said only then that the 2009s would start shipping but not be in the shop until late October or early November. This sucks for me since I want to buy a new one in early September. It appears to be the same boat for Kawasaki since I'm also looking at a Vulcan 900 Custom.

Yamaha/Suzuki West here in Fort Worth told me Suzuki dropped production by 40% this year over last due to all the left over bikes they had. There's not a Boulevard in their showroom, not only M50s but C50s, C50Ts, C90s or even C109s right now as far as I saw and the salesman that sold me mine told me they're not getting ANY until at least September. They're all sold out of Boulevards.

I feel lucky I got my M50 last month. I called every dealer around metro Atlanta and found one dealer that had 2 on the floor and I bought a yellow/dark gray one. Every dealer told me the same story, mid sized bikes and scooters are selling like hot cakes and they can't keep them in stock. Local dealer did tell me they don't stock M50s cause they don't sell well, not sure I believe them, they wanted to sell me a C50 or S83 which they were trying hard to get rid of.

I do. I'm seriously considering buying one at the end of the year. It's good to hear that Yamaha/Suzuki West isn't the only one overstocked. They've got a special deal on a black one for $10999 right now. I told the sales guy I'm friends with that I might come back and try to buy it for $9000 in December or January.

I love the B-King for the same reason I love my M, it's not like all the other bikes.

Woah, they must have had a crazy weekend. I was in there Saturday morning at 9am and there were 2 M109's, a couple C109s, and a C90T up against the window.

He told me that a few weeks ago and I haven't looked at their stock since. I thinks that saleman is lying to me again. I hate when they do that.
