Default Temporary New Paint

Well, after numerous attempts and I finally have something I can live with. The paint is a flat black but with the clear coat it makes it shiny. Would rather have stuck with the flat black but it kept dorking up. Every time I put gas in little splashes hit the tank and made it look like crap. Clear coat fixed that but took away the flatness. Anyway, it only needs to last for the year I am in the dessert so I guess I will live with it. Once I get back I will be striping and having a custom job done. Anyway, here are a few shots. Camera phone so they are not that great....

The pipes and the engine/trans are the actual color of the paint. They do not have the clear coat on them.

That's certainly a unique looking M50! I'm Diggin' the headlights.

Put on clear lenses removing the chrome lip off the tank would look sweeter in my humble opinion.

I want to get smaller clear turn signals and a few other mods that aren't to pricey. Just gotta wait till I get back. I will buy most of them while I am gone. That way when I get back it will be like Christmas!!!!

I'm a huge fan of those dual lights as well...i seriously looked at the Fatbob in the spring and it took nearly signing the papers to find out that the only reason i liked it was because of the dual headlights.

The reason I got those it because when I fell off my bike (no didn't wreck) it damaged the headlight. I rode for about 8 months with a dorked up headlight, it worked just looked crappy. I knew I liked the dual lights so after realizing the stock light cost about $8000 I decided to go with the $139 dual set-up. The lights fit directly into the two holes already on the bike. I had to dremel them out a very small amount to get the bolts to fit through but the holes were in the right spots.

Man, Phil, that's a nice ride.

Do you have any pictures of her with the speedometer exposed?!?
you seem to be the cool guy with 13' bars. i've been wanting to do that but was afraid that speedo would look weird in the middle. also could you let me know what you had to replace cable wise?

thanks man.

Did you try flat or satin clear coat? I know I've seen it... Nice though. Be safe playing in the sandbox.

I tried finding some flat clear coat, went to about 5 different paint shops, but I am in Kansas and well like I said I am in Kansas.....

These are the best I have with the speedometer showing. This was before I painted it but the same handle bars. The only cable I had to replace was the brake line. I re-routed the throttle cables between the frame and tank only because I got the chrome switch housings and the cables go in through the top not the bottom. I leave in two days, but I will try to get a better picture tomorrow.

At least its not Nebraska... Got an Ace hardware? Thats where I saw it I think
or you could scuff up the clear coat with a little fine grit sandpaper, that might dull it up, but hey still looks good

After painting the flat just seal the deal with a synthetic spray wax. bonds the paint and keeps finger prints and fuel from soaking into the paint since it's soaked with wax.

Crap!! I really wish I would have known that. That is why I kept stripping and repainting. Dang gas drops kept hitting it every time I got gas. Oh well, when I get back I am redoing everything again anyway. Looking at the Jesse James 9in rear bob fender. I also found a pretty cool looking new front fender. I will have all painted flat black with a replica of my tattoo (cross web design). New exhaust will also be in order. Problem is it will take me a year to get back home....
