Default recommended oil and oil type

Hey,

Been doing some searching on recommend oils and fluids for our M50's. So what is everyones thoughts on Redline and Royal Purple products? I sell a lot of it for the Automotive users. Is it something i should put in my M50 for its first oil change. (after 600 mile mark)

Has anyone done a write up on this if so shoot me the link.

Thanks.

(at work so i don't have my manny in front of me)

I would wait for some more miles before going to synthetic, but other put it in right away without issues. Both of those brands are popular, just make sure don't use an oil with friction modifiers. I usually use Motorcycle specific oils that are labeled they meet the JASO standards, but last change I tried Rotella Syn. It has been good so far and I know many other riders use it in their bikes.

beware of friction modifiers is the big thing. As long as it meets specs, give it a try. I'm also using Rotella Syn with no problems for 7000mi. Judging from an f'ing sticker on the bike when I got it, the previous owner used Bel-Ray.

Thanks! Will wait a bit. I found a good write up on this forum about synthetics. I sell Valvoline motorcycle 4 stroke and 2 stroke oil at my store. any luck with valvoline?

I'm using the Valvoline oil 4 stroke oil, meets JASO MA and is "specially formulated for wet plate clutch" whatever that me means. I like it, works well as far as I can tell, cheaper than synthetic, don't feel like paying 40 bucks to change my oil, rather spend under 20....
