Default Questions about lowering my M-50

First of all I am new to this forum, so I would like to say "Hi". I find very helpful.
My questions are:
1) Will lowering the bike help with nhandling and is there any other advantages to lowering the bike?
2) I'm a big 6-2 265lb, if I use the Jones lowering kit will I have aproblem with the bike bottoming out?
Thanks

I’m 255 lbs and lowered 2 ½”. I have no regrets about lowering and have only bottomed out (scraped other than pegs) a couple times. Those couple times I was going from flat pavement to a decent grade incline pretty aggressively.

I find the incresaed handling dramatic as opposed to stock configuration.

Pegjay, I lowered 2.5 and really like how it sits and handles now. You will probably have to tighten the shock a couple clicks. There is a positive difference in the ride. It is worth the $40 to try it. If you don't like them you can switch it back. I am sure someone on this site will buy the from you at a slightly reduced price.

I lowered mine 3" about three years ago now. It makes the M easier to handle, especially during slow turns, U turns, and when you put it in reverse.

Reverse wasn't an option on mine!! LOL

I'd like to lower, but my wife enjoyes riding. Would the lowering make it bottom out, or top out on the inner fender?? 2" lowering?? maybe

Whats the combined weight (driver + passenger)? I have never bottomed out, and combined weight on mine is right around 300...depending on how much I eat at dinner!

I think he made his own, pull in the clutch, put both feet on the ground, and push in reverse....

Lowered the rear of my bike 3" about two years ago, and I absolutely love it- better handling all around. I keep the rear spring tension fairly high and it seems to help. I'm pretty light, but my 6'2", 250# father-in-law took it out last time he came up from Florida, and had no problems.

Im 185lbs, have it lowered 2.5". I have bottomed out the bike and scraped both the frame and pipes a few times, but that was riding it like a sport bike. For normal riding it has never bottomed out even 2up. Love the way it looks and handles I would definatly recomend it.

Thanks for all the input. I will get them in the next couple of weeks and let you guys know. Maybe I'll get the forward controls while I am at it.
