My little bro has a 2006 GSX-R600 (For sale even) .. I have ridden it, the brakes feel twitchy and grabby to me, where as my M feels more predictable.

To each their own I guess.

OK So finally got them mounted,

these are custom mods to generic saddle bags off ebay.. wife wants music so i had a buddy fab some speakers in the top, use marine speakers and on the inside a catch bowl with a drain built in to keep the inside of the bags dry..

I know most wont like them but this is what I did.

also i made a nice flat solid mount for the bags you can see it in picture 4 a bit. not obtrusive just nice flat. using nylon spacers to get them away from the mounts and pretty much even..

And wont take ya long to find my major screwup in the running lights but well i had the grand baby interrupting me and i screwed up.. enough said..

Well, I guess ignorance truly is bliss.

Not my cup of tea Snowman, but I like your ingenuity. Whoever did the job, did well. From what I see I think the boss the speakers are sitting in are blending quite well with the bags.

A+ for effort and ingenuity.

Had a friend do them hes a body man and dig a great job you set them side by side and you cannot see any difference between them and he blended perfect. - I know not everyone will like them but they are good for the wife and we all know who has to be kept happy..

I always try to be different and it is really different !..

Just got back from a 1500 mile round trip to Deals Gap and the surrrounding area. DANG the stock seat sucks. The bike did awesome though not a single problem. We also did some exploring off some of the mountain roads off of I40. My advice def dont take a cruiser back there, the bottom of my bike is trashed. It was an awesome trip though. We did the wild hog thing and just drove all day and found a place by a river to set up camp at night.

Sharp looking bags, the color match is sweet. As for the running lights.......... will it really matter in the long run ? Just pretend it was intentional. I would.

My Buddy has an MP3 player synced with a bluetooth headset and does much the same with his mp3 player. No wires to mess with. He also likes to brag he can walk away from the bike and still listen to the music. I'm not saying I would leave my mp3 player out on the bike but I did think it was a neat concept.

I've got a lot of catching up to do as I haven't been on the forum in a while. Thursday I gave her a good cleaning then took the bike to Dulono's for a local biker get together and got a less than desirable parking spot with no walk by traffic. Plus had to listen to my squid buddy vent about how much he hates Hayabusas while he proclaims he's too fast for his new R6 after about 3 weeks of riding it and not much time riding bikes overall... yeahhhhh.... not so much.

Got out on Sunday for a nice 3 hour ride all through the Twin Cities (MN) passing along the river and over to the uptown lakes. Got out to the freeway and thought I was going to be killed by every wind gust on the bumpy ass road. Seriously, you'd think for a state with two seasons, Winter and Road Construction, one of the most travelled roads in the cities would get some loving... or re-paving... every decade or so.

I don't know about you all but I'm not entirely comfortable with the M over 70. It feels like the tires are going be plucked right out from under me with even a little breeze. I have to really fight to keep her going straight.

Hopefully I will have a package sitting on my front porch with some forward controls when I get home. Thats what I will be doing to the M today, well, other than riding it in the rain and parking it in the rain all day at work

Went for a little ride....ended up getting poured on. After the rains let up I talked to the buyer I had lined up before, turns out he still wants my baby. She's sold and he's going to take delivery the first week of Sept.

Your M50 sounds sweet and really moves.

Not an M50, but this twin-turbo trike was at a bike rally I was at last weekend. It was wheelstanding & powersliding all over the field during the Gymkana.

Got the forward controls on, now just crossing my fingers for no rain in the morning so that I can make it to work dry.

They felt good just sitting on the bike, and hopefully that will continue to riding tomorrow. The hardest part for me was getting the shifter pedal and brake pedal set up like I like them. I can't tell you how many times I adjusted the shifter before I left it alone (but I stuck the wrench in my bags so that I can mess with it some more tomorrow). I'm so indecisive.

Yeh, right? 95 hot as crap yesterday here in Charlotte...today a comfy 74 but raining all day. C'mon wether dudes!

Anywho...called around and found a powder coat shop I'm going to check out tomorrow. Reason being is I got the PIAA 005 multi fit kit to mount on the front fenders. After standing around looking at the bike (Between rain showers...no garage ), I decided it might be good to coat them black. Otherwise, I think they'll be too noticeable against the black wheel and fender.

My Linbar also came in...found one for a C50 online for 275 shipped...same part number as the M50, so it should work. I'd also kind of like this to "disappear", so...

Stuff up for powder coating:
  • Linbar
  • PIAA 005 lights
  • Speedo cover
  • Headlight front rim

BTW - is there anything else holding the headlight front rim on other than two side bolts? Feels like it's stuck on something at the top, and I didn't want to yank it.

Also - seems like I read somewhere that the linbar can be a gritch to install unless you jack up the engine. Is that true? Can I sub something to do that if needed? I don't have a stand, jack and chock to keep the bike upright.

Relax a bit and don't fight the bike. Loosen your grip a bit. The bike doesn't want to fall over anymore than you do. Do some counter steering practice and get comfy with push steering into wind gusts. A clenched butt makes riding a lot of work.
