Rode it to work as usual but this time was a little different. Transmission or the clutch blew not sure which, getting it towed from our work yard to the repair shop tomorrow. Let you know the outcome as soon as I find out !

Well, I am using it again, I was ready to strip it down for the paintjob and the addition of the final mods and the forks on the Divvy went west. So I had to put the new tyres on the M early and start using it again - hopefully I'll get the divvy forks issue resolved soon.

I put a pair of Metzeler marathon 880's on it, I'll give y'all a brief on the tyres when they are scrubbed and I've put a few miles on 'em.

Washed it. Man that Maguires wax as you dry stuff works really good. The bike hasn't been this shiny in a couple years.

took my lady friend for a ride: acceleration is fine 2-up... the brakes leave something to be desired :-/

Yeah, the brakes are terrible when riding 2up. I ride mostly 2up but the last week or so I have been by myself. Rode all day yesterday with the wife and it felt like the bike lost 20hp and the brakes were missing! The wife is a small woman but it makes a huge difference from riding solo.

Decided to put the scraps from the racing stripes to some trial and effort....figured since I like the stock grips I might punch up the look of the bar ends a bit....

Not to hijack this thread, but I don't understand the gripes about the brakes. This weekend I finally had to put them to the test ... some idiot on a cell pulled out in-front of the wife and I. Even with her on the back and my 220lb fat ass I had to get off the back brake because I locked it up and didn't want to go into a skid. She said she had to hold on to the backrest for dearlife to keep from sliding forward and crushing the 'boys' on the tank.

I suppose most of us like to out ride them and want to slow down Faster with the front brake than we do.. you almost have to apply the same pressure as you do to the front on the rear to get it stoped to keep up with traffic around here.. just what i think is going on .. it could use another rotor up front.. I weigh 165-155lbs pending the week.... my bike with full gear on weighs 745Lbs and there are comparable bikes at the weight that have twin discs up front (i believe) that stop the bike just fine... anyway the m50 is an all around bike not built to fast to slow etc.. but right in the middle... Ive noticed that with another person on the back it actually helps me stop in the lock up the tire situation (just more friction from the weight)

I haven't ridden 2-up yet, but I have not found the brakes to really be lacking. It's quite easy to lock up the brakes, and they work well in a holy-crap-that-car-is-pulling-out-in-front-of-me-and-im-doing-60 kind of situations that one encounters on 2 lane highways.

If you ever rode a bike with really good brakes, a sportbike like a GSXR is a good example, you would be amazed at the difference.

I second that, when I took my trip a couple of weekends ago I rode my buddys shadowliner while he took mine for a couple of hours. The brakes were night and day difference from my M. Very smooth, felt like I had much better control of the bike even though it weighs 200 pounds or more than mine.
