Today I installed another new clutch, and NEW SPRINGS this time!
I updated the HOW-TO in my sig...so if your in the market for a clutch...check it out.
Turns out the new clutch I installed was ok,but the Stock springs I re-used were toast....Tighten them springs down good, and it will grab sooner, and not slip as soon.

I replaced the clutch at 18,300 miles, but I didnt change the springs.
I felt slipping,so I thought the clutch was bad again, but it was just the springs.
I replaced the clutch tonight with a OEM Suzuki clutch and Barnett springs.

Changing the clutch is so easy,it can be done in 15-20 minutes.
I HIGHLY recommend you do it yourself!
The dealer cost is insane for the work it involves.

yes (old terminology)
clicks = kms/miles | amount of clicks on the OD

and thanks!

burn... i'm too pigheaded to ask for help...

i read the instructions... they seem very clear.. it's the little things that i screw up... like "make sure you line up the bolts in order because of different sizes"
i screw things like that up

patience is a vitrue that i'm slowly understanding

Well do it like this then.....up under the bike towards the back, and bottom behind the pipes, and behind that other cover there is 1 tough bolt to get out.Its 8mm about 1/8 turn at a time with a wrench, 8mm speed wrench would be ideal, take that 1 loose 1st ,but leave it in the case...don't take them completely out.You can then remove the case with every bolt in its proper location.
After you drain your oil put the bike bike on the side stand..the more lean you can get on your m the easier it will be to hold the bolts in the case.
If you are careful you can save the case gasket too(I have reused mine 2x)..if not order 1 of those too.
1.Steel plates are $12 each x 6 Steel plates do not go bad unless you have overheated your clutch and warped them.
2.clutch plates are $12 each x 7
3.Springs are $4 each x 4
4.Case gasket $11
Shop cost almost another $300.00 for labor.

now if only i could get my bike out of storage dammit! (i have no patience)

on another note... got my national cycle hardbags in the mail today, along with a battery tender junior and a new rain jacket (tour master elite series II)

so when i get my bike bike, i need to put on the horn, the led battery gague, the hardbags, the gator footrests and clean it really well

i would have ridden already... and longjohns? man... i haven't worn those since i was 6

i've ridden in -4c (two hours from home). legs numb... check... arms numb... check ... lost feeling in both hands... check... snot running freely.. check...

was a great ride... just had to keep my eyes peeled for the ice patches...

i think next year i'll park it in my dad's huge shed... that way i can work on it over the winter and have access to it when i want

what do long johns have to do with age womper?
my dad is 80 and still wears them and I'm 44 and on
cold days still scrounge to find a pair. :p
If you live in cold canadian winters, almost every household has a pair. :p

you have just been going on (belly aching) about getting your bike out,
I sympathize that you've ridden in -4C
-- doesn't mean you have to stop...

Geeker don't mind him, he just enjoys "belly aching" to try and draw some sympathy. Oh well to bad he's dealing with a bunch of gruff hardcore bikers.
