These would make nice badges for the sides of the tank if they were metal:

Over past couple weeks:
Got Linbar powder coated flat black - still need to install
Powder coated headlight rim flat black and reinstalled.
Updated to headlight bulb to Silverstar
Got Speedo cover painted flat black and reinstalled
Got PIAA lights painted black - still need to install down on front fenders.

Pix coming after the bar and light are installed.

In the meantime: I'm crazy missing my time in Keystone CO from last week at the AMA Women in Motorcycling Conference - flew into Denver, rented a Sportster 883 for the week...hated it, but grateful that it didn't break down or leak anything.

Saw one other M at the conference of over 1000 women motorcyclists... desperately made me miss my bike.

Had some AWESOME rides through the mountains including Loveland Pass and Mt Evans (highest auto road in north america). Pix and write up coming as soon as I stop traveling and get a break from work.

I finally got saddlebags for the bike. I had been putting it off because I didn't know how I felt about black leather on a blue bike... but I think they look great. Couldn't pass them up, brand new willie & max for $40 plus shipping on ebay, and got my brackets for $40 shipped from a user here.

Also reoiled my K&N filter as it was completely done for. Now its back to being pink (hard to see on the cell phone camera) and kinda looks goofy, but oh well!

Just waiting on my new mirrors to come in from ebay as well, putting a pair of stockers from a Yamaha Warrior on the M, $20 shipped from ebay as well... getting sick of the cheap black plastic ones I have now.

I made a small slit in the bottom of the pocket on my new tank bib so I can run the audio wire up through there for the MP3 player. It works great! I'll take pictures if anyone wants to see what it looks like.

Got my baby out yesterday for a short ride after experiencing living hell bringing home my girlfriends new 81 suzuki GS650GL. It's her first bike and I have to think it will be a fantastic learner. It's so light and spunky, but whoever devised the rider position should be murdered in a thousand horrible ways. The pegs are way too far under your ass, like it's pretending to be a crotch rocket, but they are not angle like a rocket's pegs, so you have to sacrifice your ankle and knee. And they are positions so damn high that even a short guy like me (5'7") feels like a friggin giant because my knees can almost squeeze together OVER to the tank.

Getting back on my M50 was like heaven. with the exception of the brakes. Her little Suzi stops on a dime compared to the M. But that is to be expected. I'll be taking my M out tonight as well to lead the GF around town and get her accustomed to riding in places other than parking lots.

Finally installed PIAA lights down on front fender but ran out of time, light and mosquito spray to get them wired up.

That's the way I felt siting on a used Harley Lowrider at the Suzuki dealership while they were working on my bike one time. I couldn't even get my feet on the pegs they were so damn high. I'm 5'11''.

Got Linbar on...Neighbor walked up while I was working on it and started helping. I'd removed the bolts and was getting ready to install, so she was trying to help me position it. That's when we discovered bottom brackets were about 1/8" too narrow. Super timing...her hubby arrived home from work, took the bar over to his garage, threw it the vice and viola!

At least until it became a gritch to try and get the last spacer (top left, kick stand side) in and all lined help for the bolt. Man! it took three of us yanking, pushing and prying. Neighbors had to take off and by that time my spouse came out. We probably worked for another hour trying to get the bolt in. There is a wire manager on the left side (radiator hose if I remember) that we tried to leave in but it was misaligned by a milimeter or two and we could NOT get it to move...that's the narrow tolerance on Linbar up top.

Finally were able to yank out the wire manager and there ya go. Gonna zip tie the hose to the frame tomorrow.

Hope to post pix of all tomorrow if I can get the PIAA lights wired up.

Turned the key too far past the handlebar lock position and left the blasted lights on all day after work yesterday..... thankfully my co-worker was kind enough to give me a jump. It was the first time I'd had to find the battery! I felt like an ass, but got the bike to Dulono's rally. Only saw one other M there, all blacked out.
