Default Rear Wheel Noise,

Hi all. Prior to taking my bike in to the dealer, I thought (hoped) I might get some info here.
When at a slow speed,, almost coasting, I hear a sound from my rear wheel that is like a low whomp whomp whomp, that seems to be in tune with the revolution of the wheel.

Any thoughts ???

Could you be developing a flat spot on the tire possibly? If you can, I would definitely get the rear tire up in the air so you can spin it an look for anything obvious. Maybe you just have a big rock stuck in the tread!

Milage??? It could be a number of things, look for the obvious first, check tires for uneven wear and pressure. Check rear diff oil level, and make sure everything tight, If you find nothing take it to the dealer have them look at it. Don't take chances with it. Like mentioned by Don and cycle could be a dry spine or flat spot on tire, improper brake adjustment or bad bearing. Let us know what u find.

All im gonna say is just about everything I could think of to look at has been listed in this post and all others above. Only other thing I could think of is it could be your front brake rotor rubbing on the pads, I noticed a slight noise, sounded like a whomp whomp from the rear in tune with the tire to find that its just the front pads rubbing on the front rotor. But definantly get the back tire in the air and start looking

I had one of those whomp, whomp, whomp sounds on Saturday on my front wheel. I stopped at the end of my street to wait for traffic before I turned in. As soon as I started up the street the sound began. I literally thought my tire was coming off for a few seconds. When I hit my gravel driveway it sounded like something popped. I dropped off the wife and took a look around the bike and couldn't find anything and went for another ride. The noise was gone. All I can figure is I picked something up in my tire or wheel and it popped out when I hit the driveway. I had a small stone stuck in my brake rotor between it and the pad a few years ago that left a lot of noise. I stopped realized what it was, backed up, and it came out. I know this doesn't directly relate to your problem, but take a look around, it may be something easy you kick yourself for later after the dealer takes your arm and leg with that bill.

Thanks for the replies and the good tips. I will try to do some of my own investigating and if that fails, bring it in to the dealer.
I will post the results.. Thanks again.
