Default Gas Fumes

Hey, I'm new to the bike world and just picked up my 06 M50 and I must say that this is a hell of a bike. I had a question though regarding the rich gas fumes I'm smelling coming out of the Vance & Hines. The previous owner told me it has pipes, a K&N, and Dyno Jet commander. Is this normal to smell some richness? Other than that this thing rocks and I can't get enough of the open air roads! Take it easy and ride hard!

****Just took off the air cover to find that there is no K&N! Makes me wonder if I have a power commander? Where is it located on the bike?********

Might be under the seat. Might be in the box in the left side, too.

UNLESS things have changed. They do NOT make a K&N air filter for the M50 yet.....is it an M50 airkit or did the previous owner swap it out for one from a C50?-(those can use a K&N).

What's the story with the PC? Got one or not?

If ya got's neither, got punch the guy in the face for me! and make me feel better.....ok, ok, forget the violence......at least ask for $300 of what you paid him back, if that don't work, well I don't know, spit in his general direction or something!!!

Good luck and welcome aboard!

I get gas fumes if I use high octane fuel, if I stick to the 87 no fumes. Just something to consider.

I guess it comes down to the setup of the bike. Moto you stock? If not what mods u have done? Curious to see what makes the diffrence. I have Cobra Pipes, PCIII and Hypercharger.

use only 87. not high octane! you loose hp. the m50 engine is not designed for early detonation! test prove you loose hp. stick with what the manufactuer says and what its designed for! saves you money too.

F this - lets get into more detail instead of just what kind of octane to use, how about which station provides the best gas - shell, texaco, citgo, 76, valero, conoco, amoco, enmark, etc... let me know when you guys are done debating this one, I'll be out riding my m50.

dont see how you get to decide who can post what they feel! If I can recall, this post is about gas fumes not what kind of octane easy rider can afford to put in his tank.

i think you all need from gas therapy...

-take some gas (no matter what octane)
-put in plastic bag.
-put bag to face.
-inhale.
