Default Can the shift lever be moved up and down?

I just put some Highway Hawk floorboards on my bike and now I'm having a hard time with upshifts, since the distance between the board and the shift lever is a little smaller than it was with just the pegs. Before I drop a bunch of money on a heel-toe shifter, I was wondering if it's possible to move the lever up or down? I know you can adjust them on Harleys, can we do the same on our bike? Basically I just want another half an inch or so to get my foot solidly under the lever.
