Default Custom Exhaust Fabrication by MJ Members?

Ok, so who has the access to the material, pipe bender, and will take orders to bend some custom pipes for the M? Is there anyone out there who has the abillity to create a turndown exhaust for our M50?

I was thinking something like what JP22878 has on his bike.

Would there be a market for this, or is it going to end up costing just as much as purchasing Cobras/VH, etc? Volume control could be accomplished via the fibrosleeve down the road.

Any thoughts?

If you do a search on google for mandrel bend kits u will find a plethera of companies that sell these. Then just go to your local exhaust shop and get some pieces on straight pipe and weld them all together with a MIG welder and use a high temp paint or powdercoat them to prevent rust and then wrap them w/ exhaust wrap tape... its that simple, but it does take a bit of ingenuity, and imagination to fab these pipes. If I were to start building these and selling them, I would venture to say that they would cost the consumer around 350.00-400.00 plus shipping, which is a far cry from the price of those 800.00 dollar violators. Just my 2 cents worth...

Yeah cost me 100.00 in material without using the mandrel bends. Plus 6 hours of labor. And you've have to send in your pipe flanges. Not really worth it on a manufacturing end without a large operation. Shipping would be pretty hefty since size and weight. I agree with JP that going to a exhaust shopis best. I got a quote at 250.00 for pipe completely done custom at a shop. Then you have to wrap it.

Yeah, it was a thought anyway. I just did not know if it was feasible. I am assuming that you designed your pipes so that the ends would blue slightly and make a perfect match with the rest of the bike!?

I'm gonna gather my materials for my set next week. I'll give you guys a materials cost once I'm done. I know it won't be too high. Ballpark figure if i was to make these and sell them would be $300 or under. Xtenzzive's $250 quote sounds about right. It really does cost much in material. The killer part is the labor. Here is a link just so you have an idea of cost. Exhaust Components They're pricey but you get the idea.

The blue will be replaced by semi flat black on Sunday. Whole bike minus a few chrome parts.
