| Are there differences in these or are they just different names for the same thing?

BTW, my 2 cents says to go with either the MC Enterprises or Show Chrome, as the Cobras are simply to big and bulbous for the M50, and the Lindby's are very expensive, and just look wierd. Cobra's look much better on the classic style bikes like the C-50, C-90 etc..... The OEM guard looks nice on the bike, but only protects the case. It offers no protection for the tank, handle bars, your legs, your feet, etc..... Your bike, your choice, just info to be aware of.

Back when I rode cycles they were called crash bars and were required equipment. Before I spent money on them for my new M50 I wanted to make sure their wasn't caristeristics of one that would make them more desirable over the other and as I can see from Old new bikers post my assumption was correct. Thanks ONB, I will scratch the oem's and look at the ones you suggested. Your info was very helpful and I appreciate it muchly.

| Yea Nic, That's what I'm talken about. Those look nice, and the MC Enterprises are very similar. BTW I am in the process of modifying an MC Ent. bar to fit with the JK Forwards.

| I got it for $50 so it is worth some investigation. The simplest thing is to make a couple of adapter plates for the top mounts, as the whole bar is pivoted forward at the bottom, because of the forward position of the front peg mount bolts, and steepening the angle of these mounting bars. This makes them two short, and you need to make adapters to fill the gap back to threaded holes in the frame. The great thing is that these bars are spread out to clear the radiator and use 1/4" spacers to get back to the frame. Guess what. This is the thickness of the adapter plates you will use to bridge the gap of the mounting bars that are now too short because of the steeper angle. Make two plates 1/4" thick x 1-1/4" wide and long enough to handle 2ea 7/16" holes at 1-1/2" ctr to ctr (approx. 2-7/8" overall length). You would also need to cut 1/2" off the front spacer rod of the JK kit to allow for the thickness of the two bottom mounting plates that will be located just inboard of the inner faces of the JK peg supports. Another great thing is that the bolt that attaches the adapter to the upper mounting bar sets right between the frame and the radiator, so as not to be vibrating against any other surfaces. This does, however let the bar slant quit a bit forward from top to bottom, because of the forward position of the front pet support bolt, so I am going to see if I can drill new bolt holes in the bottom curved mounting bracket to minimize the angle. I should be able to move these holes at least an inch forward, but I need to be careful not to screw this up as these are chromed and I do not want to get the holes in the wrong place. I will keep you posted on the progress, and I will post pics.

| I've seen them on an M50, and I don't think they'd protect your tank. They only stick out a couple inches--I think they'll protect the cylinders and that's it.

| Are you sure thats the link to your gaurds Nic? Those look like the stock case guards which are only like 18 or 19 inches wide ( i dont remember which). And the ones in your picture look a hell of a lot wider than that...

| BTW, I did get that MC Enterprises Engine Guard installed on my M with the John's Kits forwards, and I am very happy with it. I plan to post the results with pics, but I have not had a chance to upload the pics to Photobucket yet. Stand by

| You can get a kit off the jk site to relocate your bars...but i think they only worked on the OEM and Cobra bars http://www.johnskits.com/adapter.htm
