Default What Is This Plug For?

There is a plug in the front of the tranny housing (left side of bike). See pic below. I suspect it's a filler plug/cap for putting tranny fluid in the tranny. But I've also heard that on the VZ800, the engine and the tranny share the same oil.

Does anyone know what this plug is for? Do the tranny and engine really share the same oil for lubrication? Would there be any reason to pour lubricant into this hole?

When you set adjust the valves you remove that plug to look for the marks to line up top dead center on the cylinders.

Take out the rubber cap, remove the screw and you can tell where top dead center is by rotating the crank (is that the term im looking for?)

Hope it helps everyone out.
Got it from a former Suzuki tech who has since opened his own shop. He supports the "do it yourselfer", so he sent me that after I was asking a question which the book answered.. As soon as I got it I put it on my website.

Also be warned, lots of stuff there is NSFW. It hasn't been updated in quite a while.
