Default Those of You that Swapped Your Stock Bars For C50 Bars

So I'm in the process of swapping out my stock bar for the C50 bar. So far, so good. I've rerouted all the cabling and everything seems to reach. The only problem is that the throttle grip base (the part that has the start button and the engine kill switch) has a little dowel type thing that is meant to go into a hole that's drilled in the handle bar. I think its purpose is to keep the throttle grip assembly from rotating on the handlebar, keeping the switches where they should be). The problem is that to get the dowel thing in the hole that's pre-drilled into the C50 bar, the throttle grip assembly ends up about 90 degrees from where it should be (i.e., the kill switch is perpendicular to the ground and the start button is under the bar).

Same problem with the left side switch housing.

Obviously I just need to drill a new holes in the C50 bar and the problem will be fixed. But I've read all the threads on this topic and I can't find a single mention of having to drill any new holes in the C50 bar. Did any of you have to drill new holes or am I doing something wrong?

You've got your bars upside down

Sorry I could not resist. I didn't have that problem with mine. They were a direct fit except for the cable reroute.

I really don't know what you are talking about. Why would the grip assembly not rotate? Mine does and I went outside to look at the C bar and although it has the hole in it I dont think its ment for the purpose you describe. Just don't put anything in there and you'll be fine.

It should fit. I had to ground that nub off when I narrowed my stock M50 bars.

I just drilled holes in the new bars to accommodate those nubs. But since you ground your nubs off, what keeps your switch assemblies from rotating freely on your new bars?

The screws keep it more than snug enough to keep it from rotating. Although drilling it like you did is honestly the best way to do it. Good job.

Most people on here that have either rotated their bars a good bit from the stock position or swapped out bars for aftermarket bars, like drag bars, have just ground the nub down and haven't had a problem.

Still, you did it the best way.
