Default Kickstand Nub Mod

For those of you that have lowered (I just order a 2 /12 " kit and Forward Controls from John). Have any of you done the Kickstand Nub Grind Off mod that the riders over at the volusiariders site are doing. I wonder if there is any difference between there kickstand setups and ours.

Default kick stand alternative

i was going to "shave that nub off". but when i got to my buds house we just took a blow torch to the middle and bent it out a bit. work great, looks great, 3000 daily miles later not single problem. and as a plus it's a tad bit easier to find when kicking it out. (sticks out another half inch or so.

that might be easier than shaving painting and all that.

Actually. you don't have to shave the whole nub off but only about 1/4 on the side the that the kickstand bumps against. Add a little bit of angle to it.

For me, I covered the bike with some towels and then leaned it up against several stacked bales of hay. I took the kickstand off, used a dremel, cleaned it up, hit it with black spray paint and put the kickstand back on.

You can cut a re-weld the kickstand like this member did. http://www.motorcycle-journal.com/fo...kickstand+weld

Is this really necessary? I lowered mine 2" without any problems.

The kickstand nub mod is a very good idea if your M50/C50 has been lowered 2". It's necessary, IMO, if the bike has been lowered 3" like mine. Why? Better lean angle when parked. I can't control the fact that some parking lots and driveways aren't perfectly flat or not as flat as I thought they were.

Before the mod, my dog almost tipped my bike over in the front yard while chasing the cat who had jumped on the seat. (Don't worry, I flogged them both). I was one of the lucky ones that had an "almost" moment and not a fully tipped bike. It takes all of about 20 minutes to do and could save you hundreds in repairs.
