Default Cruzers Mod

With the chatter on home made baffles etc. I thought I would try a little something myself with my Cruzers. I think they sound pretty good as they are but wanted to drop the decibels a touch and try to deepen the tone a bit.

What I show below I did to both pipes:

The pic below shows on top the baffle that came out of the Cruzer and below a 12" Drag pipe Baffle I cut in half.

Next I cut off the ends.

And then stuck one half of the baffle into the Cruzer baffle.

The Outcome...

Awful! As soon as I started her up there was a black smoke coming out through the exhaust. I let her warm up a bit but not change. I was a bit afraid that I would do some permanent damage so I shut 'er down and went pulled out the second baffles. After that for the next little while I got a stinky sooty exhaust that I haven't had before. I think it is gone now but haven't been able to go for a long ride to be sure.

It has been cold up here so I'm wondering if it was just built up condensation in the pipes or if it actually was to much restriction.

I think I'l stay stock on the Cruzer. At least the failed mod only cost me $20 for the baffle.
