Default Praise the Fibrosleeve!

I debaffled (only debaffled, not demickeyed) my pipes yesterday before going for a 200 mile ride. They were LOUD, even just driving out of the neighborhood. Then I got on the interstate and cruised north at about 80 MPH. After about an hour of that, I thought I was surely going to go deaf. So I pulled off at Santa Gay--i mean Fe--to see if I could hear anything quieter than 300 decibels. Riding through town with the enormous racket going on between my heels, all I could think was how annoying must I be to everyone within 100 yards right now! The rest of the ride was more of the same, just different scenery.

Once I got home I decided to give Diamond Jim's fibrosleeve invention a shot before I sheepishly went to buy new stock pipes. So today after work, I did the job. It took about 30 minutes.

Let me tell ya, they're just as easy to make and install as Diamond Jim describes in his thread, and what a difference they made! My bike is now just a small bit louder at city speeds but at highway speeds--amazingly--it's the same volume as it was before the debaffle! Besides the minor increase in volume at city speeds, the only difference from stock tubes is that now the sound is just deeper, throatier, and more of a growl.
