Just sold my 2005 M50... Buyer just drove off with it. I bought my bike used 5/19/06. I had never ridden a motorcycle before. It had a whopping 289 miles on it. Today as it drove off it had 10,541 miles. My longest ride was a 5 day trip from Indianapolis to Tunica, Miss and back. I love the look and the ride of the M50. Honestly at 6"5'' 275 lbs I just felt it was too small for me. It felt bogged down when I had my girlfriend riding 2-up (no... she's not as big as me... just about half) and I just felt like a bear on a tricycle when I was out on the interstate. I poured over my options most of last year's riding season but nothing really stood out to me. I was considering some of the bigger V-stars or maybe an M109. This December I saw Harley's newest Dyna... The Fat Bob. I was everything I liked in a motorcycle. I knew as soon as I saw it... I just bought one last weekend and I have to tell you it's nice. It nice and smooth and seems to corner better than the M50 and the stock seat is a dream come true. No disrespect to metrics coming from me ever. I loved my M50 and If I was smaller I would have stuck to it. I'm not one of these "Harley or nothing" kind of guys. I hate all the merchandise and all the image crap that so many people get caught up in. Other than the free t-shirt the dealer gave me I won't be spending my money on merchandise to prove to I fit in. If any of you ever consider a Harley... skip the sportsters and check out a bike in the dyna family. They are a bike for someone who really wants to ride. Thanks to all on here who took time to share info with me and others about the M50 and riding in general. Ride safe, keep the shiny side up, and godspeed. |
