All I have to vent my bike accident. I was hit from behind by a *&^% car while waiting to turn right onto a busy road. I pulled up to the stop and then pulled up a bit more to look around a truck that was waiting to turn left from the same road. The car behind me, I guess thought I was pulling out to go and so, while he was looking left to try and see around the truck he pulled forward and hit me. My body rolled back on the bike, the bike and I were pushed forward a bit and then fell over to the right. Luckily no injury to me. I was afraid he would push me into traffic or run me over, but he stopped pretty quick. Just a dumb error on his part not watching me, instead trying to get an eye down the road. Anyway, my exhaust is bent and so is my right handle bar end, and I have scratches on my right mirror and front break handle. Also my rear break lever is bent, and the right side controls were rotated on the bar a bit. After swearing and exchanging information, he helped me get my bike up. I was able to ride it home fine. I dropped it off at the shop this morning so I hope to have an estimate tonight or tomorrow. The rules here are, if there are no injury's, and the total accident cost is less than $1000 then no police report is required and the two parties can settle between themselves or through insurance. So I will have to wait and see on the estimate before moving forward. One opportunity is that if the estimate is less than $1000 I will try to do it with out informing insurance and maybe get an exhaust upgrade out of this.... But thinking about it, it's our long M50 stock exhaust that took most of the damage saving the rear fender and some of the right side of the bike... by design? Anyway, I will take pics later. I am bummed out, the weather is great here right now. |
