Glad your ok.

I am sure you can find some stock pipes on here from someone that upgraded theirs. Cheap too! Now get that bike fixed and we'll have to set up a ride.

I had an accident about a year ago (stupid really, riding in 40mph winds I exited off an Interstate ramp veering right and hit a patch of red sand as the wind was shifting from the North to East) and had the Insurance company write a sheet. It looked like very minimal damage and the estimate almost totalled the bike out (the bike was a week old). But I did manage to get some good Cobra pipes, ISO Grips, Kuryakyn Mirrors and Sissy Bar instead of the stock stuff. Insurance doesn't care what you spend the money on, just that the estimate is accurate.

Your accident just stinks. Glad your OK though.
This happened to one of my friends last year when he was hit from behind and pushed 30 feet out into an intersection. Luckily there was no traffic.
The best part about it was it happened in front of a State Police station, it was witnessed by another one of our friends, and the guy who hit him was a lawyer.
Even though my friend was basically OK, he went to the hospital and had some x-rays taken and was checked out. Then for months every time the lawyer's insurance company would call, he would just keep telling him he was a little sore yet.
They ended up giving him a big fat check that not only fixed his bike but help with his pain and suffering and some nice new accessories.

Glad your ok. Next time save the bike, body parts grow back!!! Just a little sik humor to get you through till you get your bike back.

Ditto on calling the cops after the accident. Even if its not alot of damage. you more or less want it on record that it wasn't your fault. That way you can get that check and mod away with whatever you want. and save some of your money and do some of the work yourself. Just make sure your frame isn't bent.

Yeah, you definitely always want to call the cops. You can decide later if you want to involve the insurance companies. I was in a car accident about a month ago (woman on the cell phone not paying attention). When I called her insurance company to report the claim they spoke to her and she denied she was at fault. I faxed them a copy of the police report that stated she crossed into my lane and was issued a ticket (and more importantly I wasn't!). Insurance company didn't fight it and I had no problems. But without an officer reviewing the actual scene they can't assign responsibility so the other person can say it wasn't there fault then it becomes he said/she said kind of deal. Live and learn! Also, if you're going to go through their insurance, do NOT tell your insurance company. I have a few friends that work auto insurance for The Hartford and they all said you never tell your own company unless you absolutely have to. What happens is because they can't raise your rates if your not at fault, they simply remove a "good driver" discount that you were supposedly getting for having a clean record and your rates go up anyway. Sneaky sneaky people. I'm glad to hear you're ok. I hope you get your bike back soon.
