Default Saddlebags bolted right onto the fender gaurd....

I found a set of UNIK saddlebags for $125. They look ok and will hold a good bit of storage. I dont want to shell out for supports, and I want the bag to fit closer to the fender anyway.

I will cut the yoke to fit, and throw over my fender / under the pilon. From here the right side bag clears the exausht pipe by an inch or two. Just barely touches the tail lights, and clears the passenrger footpegs with enough room.

The back and bottom of the bags are pretty rigid. Not solid or hard mind you but pretty firm. (firmer than just plain leather bags, probably has a layer of plastic between the leather layers) So I was looking at the bag next to the fender, and I want to drill a couple holes in the bags and mount them right onto the fender where the saddlebag supports would normaly bolt on.

My only real delima is how to measure and mark the bags so that I can make my holes right the first time? I dont want to drill / cut a bunch of holes into my new bags.

Once the holes line up like I want them, I'll get a couple fender washers and rubber washers from the hardware store to help support the whole set up a bit more.

Anyone have any suggestions for getting good measurements and marks for making my holes right the first time?
