|  a few newbie questions about my M50
Hi guys, new rider, less than 500 miles so far. I bought an 06 M50, with about 2700 miles. I love it so far, and I'm learning. THis is my first bike, so I have a few questions. - rough engine. temps low 40's, I assume it is normal. Even after 30 minutes, it still seems a bit rough.... don't have much to base it against. Is it normal? - odd clanking from engine - rare, but usually after start. Also, sometimes immediately after start, it gives a grinding noise for a split second (also rare)... Like I'm hitting the starter, after it is already started. Should I worry? -counter steering - the way I sit, I've gotten into the habit of pulling with opposite hand to turn. Is this a bad habit? - gear changing. With a car, releasing the throttle in first causes the car to lurch... On my bike, this occurs at every gear. Is this typical of bikes, or should I worry? - downshifting - another habit I have formed. When I am slowing down, I downshift, and gently slip the clutch (no lurch). I don't blip the throttle... do I need to rev match? I don't want to burn out the clutch. (I'm not trying to engine brake even tho it does, just match gear to speed). Needless to say, I'm learning  .... I have a long way to go, but in the mean time, I tend to worry.
