Lightbulb Sissybar Backrest & Travel Bag

Christmas is comming around the corner and I need to make up my mind what I want for my bike.

I'm looking on getting a sissybar/backrest for it. Anybody have any suggestions? I will mostly be using it for a sissybar travel bag because I hate saddlebags. I'm looking for something strong and comfortable

Also any suggestions on "sporty" looking saddlebags.

Any suggestions let me know

Thanks.

I compare a M50 to a sporters, So how many of them have you seen with sissy bars and backrests.I pulled the back seat off to give it a more sporty look. I bought some bungy buttons Just in case I ever want to carry something. If I take it to work I use a tank bag for my lunch and other small items.

But if you must than get OEM with a short sissy bar.

This a picture of my first ride back in March 2007. The sissy is by Cobra with a Kury Grand Tour bag, very comfy. Very stable holds lots of stuff.

Hey man, alright you're in luck. I was in your same situation about 11 months ago.

I'm a young college guy so I wanted to keep with the sporty look, while being practical. (I made a 2500mi. trip with this setup, + a guitar strapped to the back of everything, so it works very well for anything from a quick run to the video store or a ride through the rockies.)

Sissybar: Mapam Sissy bar for the VZ800 (M50) Looks great, bolted up easily. Leather holds it's stitching through rain, snow and shine for a year now.

Backrest Luggage: (Now this is important!!!!) GET THE TBAGS UNIVERSAL EXPANDABLE!! This bag is Excellent! It looks perfect on the bike, as the name indicates it's expandable, good strong zippers, no catching or rusting, comes with its own raincover that is permenantly attached to the bag. It comes with a top bag that you can either use attached to the top of the main luggage or use it by itself. The way it attaches to the bike is great and really easy to take on and off.... Man this thing has a lot..... There are zip out backpack straps on the main luggage so you can just take it off, throw it on your back and go inside. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING; you can flip this around and have it resting on your back seat (as apposed to the luggage rack) and it is the best solo backrest money can buy. It has plenty of little pockets and lots of good areas to strap bungies to..

The best part, I paid 200 bucks for this bag shipped. A lot less than most (IMHO) ugly saddle bags for the M.. Don't get me wrong saddle bags look good on some bikes, just not the M.

Here's a link to the Bag. (It looks a lot bigger in the pics on the site because they have it packed to the brim with foam or airbags or something)
T-BAGS® UNIVERSAL<BR> EXPANDABLE :: Detail

BAM! Found a link to the sissybar also. Suzuki M50 SISSYBAR mapam - Mapam Sissy Bars - SM3001GVZ8

Good luck man I hope this help......

bm50Chapin - Thanks for the advise on the bag.

I ordered the T-Bags Universal Expandable 4 this afternoon from cruisercustomizing on the strength of your recommendation.

As an aside - I got a Cobra sissybar, luggage rack AND this bag shipped to New Zealand for several hundred dollars less then what Suzuki was charging for the bar and rack alone. So - my bag was 'cheaper than free' (well thats how Im pitching it to the wife anyway!

Installed all genuine Boulevard backrest and luggage rack. Just purchased a Willie and Max Raptor trunk for the luggage rack. Plain, black and large enough to hold what I need. Can't just yet see my M with saddle bags. Hope it helps for anyone else.

Any pics of the bag on the bike? I was thinking of the same bag.

Lazy rider bag + Walmart 17" rolling cooler bag, on a VS800. I can strap 'em both down pretty good when using that luggage rack. Y'all have more room on the M50 and should be able to use the large 12" Lazy Rider bag.
