| Hi guys, Just wondering, where exactly is the oil pump placed on the M50? I suppose it should be close to the oil filter, but which side, left or right? I am asking because I would like to know if it isn't dangerous to idle the engine while the bike is on the kick stand? If the bike is inclined to the left and the oil pump is on the right, would it be submerged in oil so the lubrication worked correctly? Thanks! |

| Fifth gear streak ![]() | im just guessing that when they designed the bike they accounted for the bike to be idle on the kick stand and that it wont hurt it any at all, just my guess anyways isnt the oil pump in the oil pan, normally at the bottom in the lowest part of the pan?-crap now you have me wondering and im gonna have to go look it up ok- if i read my manual correctly the oil pump is on the right side of the bike attatched to the water pump shaft Last edited by ranger04; 11-04-2007 at 07:40 PM. |

| I find it hard to believe that the Suzi engineers (with all the other cool engineering on this bike, as well as their cars) would design a bike that couldn't idle on the stand for danger of oil-starving the engine. That's just crazy talk.

| Well I'm not too mechanically inclined, so this thought would have never passed through my head. But because I've never had that thought I have warmed my bike many times while on the kickstand. Usually the bike was on a flat surface, but on a cold morning I'll start the bike and let it idle while I get my gear together and get dressed. I've done it for two years with no adverse affects to the bike, so I don't think you'd have to worry.

| I agree, the Suzuki engineers should have thought to this and design the engine so it could be idled safely while the bike is on the side stand. I think I'm just worrying too much... ![]() Man, I love this bike!!! |

| I'm sure there is an oil pick-up in the sump that would suck oil up while it is on the stand.
