Default Yamaha Roadstar Warrior??

I've been looking at putting a second bike in the garage. I love the M50; therefore I don't plan on selling it. However I've had my eyes on a different jewel for a while. The Yamaha Roadstar Warrior Midnight. I've been to the warrior forums and read the posts, but I was wondering if anyone on this forum has any personal exerience with this particular bike. How does it ride? Hows the belt drive as apposed to the shaft? etc.etc.. If anyone has any input I'd certainly appricate it.

Figured I'd try and put some pics up for those who don't know what bike I'm talking about.

No experience on the bike but it's a beauty. Go for it!

That's the bike I would get if I decide to go with another cruiser when the time for a new bike comes. Unfortunately (since I'm always to late for the demo rides) my only experience is sitting on one. I'm only 5'7" and it felt wide. Having sat on a Vulcan 2000 and a 1600 Mean Streak, I can tell you the Warrior was 2000 wide. It's been awhile since I've been on the 2000 but the Warrior seemed wider from what I remember.

Sorry I couldn't have been helpful.

that's alright, personal opinions are good too. I guess the people that straight race these things can get 100+hp to the rear wheel. I'm just wanting to keep with the aggressive/ muscle look rather than going classic, and I think this bike is a good fit for that category.

The only thing I do not like about the Warrior, is the stock can it comes with from the factory.

Yeah that can is all kinds of ridiculous. I wouldn't mind the looks as much if it weren't such a good silencer.

I rode with a guy that has a Warrior. I don't care for the bars, but everything else it nice. Not sure what he did as far as motor work, but he stood it up without any problem.

Yeah that tin can that comes stock is terrible!!
But that can easily be fixed with a new set of pipes. Yeah I've seen one pop up the front end no problem and ride for about a block.. That engine is schweeet though, 1700cc's I've found them lightly used for as low as 5600. I didn't know what to think about the bars... Something wasnt right about them, just couldnt put my finger on it.

Thanks for the input. All opinions are welcome, let me know what your take on this bike is from the prospective of a fellow M50 rider.

I like the looks of the bike but that exhaust would have to be changed.

I had one from '03 to '06. I loved that bike. It didn't have good ergos for the passenger which is why I got the Stratoliner & sold the Warrior. That bike got me hooked on the big VTwin, air-cooled, belt drive Yamahas. Never a lick of trouble. Sounded great with Vance & Hines Big Shots. Lots of grunt, handled absolutey great in the twisties in the Rocky Mountains.

It just wasn't comfortable for my wife, that's the only reason I changed bikes. Otherwise, I'd still have it. I've reached a point where I can get another bike now but I'm torn between getting another Warrior or the new Raider.

If you're into engine mods, there's sooooo much available for it (internal mods that is,) along with cosmetic goodies to make it a custom.

Have fun & enjoy with whatever you decide, that's what it's all about anyway.

Ya, that new Raider is something I would look at. Sweet looking bike!

Had an M50, my girlfriend has it now. Got a 2007 Warrior this past spring. Love both bikes but completely different through and through.

Shaft drives obviously are much easier to maintain, but there's not much to a belt drive either. Great performance, excellent power, but you are comparing a bike with twice the engine size. The gas tank is too small, only about 3.7 useable gallons, only gets about 120 miles before the fuel light comes on.

Had some trouble with possible overheating after some long days through the Smokey Mountains this past summer. Still don't know if it was due to a relocation of the air sensor, the need for synthetic oil, the fact that it is an air cooled bike ridden hard in high heat and humidity, a bad fuel injector controller, or something completely different. I haven't been able to reproduce the problem since.

There have been a couple of recalls over the past two years, so make sure the recall work has been completed before any purchase.

The first mod everyone does is to change the exhaust to get that water heater off the back end. Next is usually a Big Air Kit to clean up the right side and often a coil relocation to clean up the front end. The stock seat is better than the M50 stock, but still pretty much sucks. The nice thing is there is a ton of aftermarket parts available, unlike the M50.

I considered the Mean Streak as well, but the research and fit of the Warrior made it an easy decision for me. I like the look of it, more of a power cruiser. Longest ride has been about a 400-mile day, and was more than comfortable the entire time. Having a great Corbin seat definately helps, though.

Check out Yamaha Road Star Warrior:: Home and do a search, you will get answers to any and all questions you may have. If looking at a 2008 Midnight Warrior, just be aware that they have changed the wheels from the black with red stripe to just the plain regular wheels.

The Warrior definately turns heads and gets tons of appreciative comments. It does get tiring having all the Harley guys drool over it and have all their girlfriends want to climb aboard, but that's just the price you have to pay for having such a great bike.
