Default Engine Guards

Well, I just finished installing the engine guards on the M. I wanted to go with something subtle, so I ended up with these small ones. Not much protection for anything other than the actual engine, but I like the way they look. I might even powdercoat them black.

No, I actually bought them from someone on Two Wheeled Texans here in DFW who had them on a C50, but she didn't like them as they were too small. They look like the OEM, but I think these don't stick out as far as OEM.

I like those. They are exactly what I want. Like you said they are subtle and the perfect size.

Subtle. I like them. I went with the OEM's for much the same rationale...I didn't want something that stuck out a ton. I realize there's not a lot of protection, but its a decent tradeoff in my book.

I have the OEM ones on my bike. I don't like the looks of the lindby bars or others that stick way out either. I really thought these wouldn't offer much protection because they are so small, but a couple of months ago, I did a slow speed dumpover while pulling into the driveway at work and hit some sand. I was fine, besides being mortified...hahaha...and of course was more worried about the bike.

Once I lifted it back up though, not a single scratch on it! Fortunately I had the saddlebags on that day for a change, and between those and the engine guards, it was enough to protect everything, so I'm happy with them!

They look sharp. Don't know if you plan on adding highway pegs. I have the OEM guards, which look good but it isn't as comfortable to rest my feet on the highway pegs as I thought it'd be. The air cleaner is huge.

They look very similar to the OEM guards which I have. One problem with the OEM guards I'm having is the bolt are rusting up. Does anyone know of a good source for stainless steel bolts in the right size?

Bolt rusting.... I forgot to mention that mine snapped/broke down where it is attached to the bottom. The dealer welded it for a small sum. I think others had the same problem too.

I have a spray on thing that prevents rust. I'll check the name when I get home and post.

I am having the same problem with the bolts for my back rest to the billit supports. The hex holes are showing some rust.

XoZe

We would really like to know about the anti-rust spray that you have.

Thanks,
ONB

I think that XoZe guards are OEM because I installed a pair on my bike last night and there just like that. my bolts on top had spacers with stainless stell bolt but the ones on the bottom are regular steel. Unless I installed them wrong. The the spacer was need on top so the flange would not dig into the raditor housing.

I don't have spacers on mine...& the bolts I had to by at a hardware store, because the person I bought them from had them on a C50 & the bolts she had were too short for my bike.
