Red face Freakin' Out!!

Hey guys...........it's me again.
Well, I have had my "M" for 2 weeks now and love it..except....
The cough and sputter I had before (mid throttle and up) has gone away.
A friend and I took both carbs off and cleaned them really good. We put it all back exactly the way it all came off and guess what????
Now it's just the opposite, it still starts and idles fine, but when I go to take off or give it a little throttle it pops and sputters (backfires) until I get up to about half throttle and then WOW. It's like a power band on a dirt bike.
I never guessed (though I had hoped) that it would have that kind of torque and acceleration.
BUt.....what do I do now? I hate the thought of taking it to a dealer and have it sit waiting to get worked on until it's too damn cold to ride.
Any suggestions? The manual says "anytime the sync cable is removed or the carbs are removed the carbs need to be synched." Well, I don't have the "tool" to do it. I just need some good advice.
In the meantime, I have put new fatty bars, new billet mirrors, saddle bag supports, saddlebags and a back rest. Now I need it to run right!!! HELP.....
