Default clutch cable

I'm trying to disconnect the clutch cable at the clutch lever so that I can lubricate the cable. I have the Hayne's manual, but I can't get the friggin' cable out of the lever!! Has anyone done this procedure before?

Remove the black rubber boot over the adjuster.
Wind the adjuster AND the inner piece fully in. Line up the slots in both of these with the slot in the handle (usually fully forward)
Pull the cable outer away from the handle, and then the 'barrel' end will drop out.

Installation is a reverse of the above.

Adjust the clutch at the engine end, by removing the cover plate, loosening the lock nut, wind out the inner screw 2-3 turns, then screw back in. When resistance is felt, wind out a 1/4 turn.
Tighten locknut, and adjust locknuts on end of cable to gain 10-15 mm of free play at the lever.
Replace boot over lever.

Should take about 2-3 minutes to do all the above.

You need to add 10 to 15 minutes to take the side covers off for clutch adjustment, but it is very easy.
