| on my 97 marauder, there is this chrome canister shaped thing that sits between the rear cylinder and the air filter cover, anyone know what it is? there doesn't seem to be any wires or hoses coming from it..?

| I'd guess it's a breather to allow the head or crankcase to vent.

| ... ![]() | if there's two hoses, it's likely the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) - one hose is before the throttle plates / butterflies, the other hose is after. if there's only one hose, it's likely a vacuum canister - it just stores additional vacuum. actually, i don't know if bikes would even USE that sort of setup, but some cars do (especially with REALLY aggressive cams) to help run the power brakes and stuff. |

| Do you happen to live in California? If so those models have an evaporative emmissions canister that the other 49 states do not get. My wifes has a place for it, but it is empty. |

| Top Gear ! Full Throttle! ![]() | Have you seen the new Mercedes? It comes with automatic right-of-way. You can just pull out in front of anyone or anything and it doesn't matter cause you're in a Mercedes! This has been standard equipment on several full size SUV's for a while now but it's good to see it being installed on luxury cars. Before you know it, there will be cheap knock-off "rite-o-way" bolt on parts at your local Pep-Boys so you can put them on your 1984 Civic with the Sparkomatic radio.
