Default Saddlebag dilemma.....

I have an 07 M-50 and am going to buy saddlebags for it, the only problem is that i am not sure what size bags to get. I have Vance and Hines Straightshots. I need the bags for several reasons: One reason is because it gets tiring carrying a backpack when you don't have to going to class, and the other is that me and a buddy i driving from Dallas to Sturgis at the beginning of august. I want pretty big saddle bags but ones that still look good......

Anyone got any ideas? at lunch ill put up pics of the two i am looking.

thanks and gig 'em

I am also interested in saddlebag suggestions. About the only thing I have decided on is to get easy brackets.

Yeah I am in the same boat. So far I really like the look of these 2:

Saddlemen Express Cruis'n Saddlebags

<img src="http://i10.ebayimg.com/05/i/000/aa/15/982f_1.JPG" />

and

Saddlemen Midnight Express Drifter Slant Saddlebags

<img src="http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/images/image_21361_150.jpg" />

They come in different size.

I have the Cobra Streetrods with a 2" dogbones drop. I would like to get the biggest size without it touching the pipes. I think there needs to be a 2" clearance between the bags and the pipes.

I know the Midnight Express Drifter Slant Saddlebags have a lock and key, so those are probably ideal.

those are the three i am choosing from the one with the tape measure in it is 6x11x14, the one with the studs are 6x12x12, and the other ones are 12x21x8

and also, does anyone know if an 04 volusia saddlebag bracket would fit on the M-50?

I've got the XL Tourmaster square ones (not the slants) with stock pipes. They're plenty big and *just* fit behind the rear blinkers (they actually touch the blinkers, but don't push on them any)

Thanks Basso, not sure why they weren't working.

I have the Saddlemen Drifter Slants (Jumbo) on Easy Brackets, and I have PLENTY of room to the rear and above the pipes with the way I mounted mine...see pics below. Part of it has to do with the way you mount the Easy Brackets to the bags- and with the Saddlemen's "hatbox" kind of hinge, you have to mount them a bit lower on the bag (so the top of the bag is above the fender strut- otherwise they won't open). I tried to get them to have their leading edge sorta in line with the slope of the bike's rear fender...judge for yourself if I succeeded!

By the way- I'll look for you at Sturgis...I'm going out with a few friends myself! (Staying in Glencoe- Godsmack saved their lineup!!)

I've got the Saddlemen Express Cruis'n Saddlebags in large. Should have gone with jumbo as the large look tiny on the bike and the capacity is lacking.

When making a post there is a "manage attachments" button at the bottom of the window. It allows the user to attach images that are located on your local drive. Its pretty straight forward.

I got a throw over saddle bag from Canadian Tire. Works okay and does the job but it left some scuffs on my fender.

I don't see the saddle bags only on that link. I typed in Ottawa, ON for the location. Hmmm..... hopefully they have them.
