| I just got my new M50 yesterday! First bike. (can't count minibikes and the old Yamahopper from the 80's) My choice was made easy by all the great comments on the bike on this site. I plan on plugging in here alot! My first question that's come up is: What part of the service "has" to be done at a Suzuki shop to keep the warranty? I talked to the techs at the shop and they said the first check has to be, but I know from car dealership days that it may not always be that way. I'll take it easy before I make it my commuter on the Washington DC beltway which is always an adventure. Thanks for all your great info! |

| Wants Better Weather ![]() | Welcome Dallas!!!! I just picked up my M50 2 1/2 weeks ago and hit my 600 yesterday. The dealer told me the 600 mile HAS to be done by them or another Suzuki dealer or licensed shop in order to maintain the warranty. I don't know the validity, but i am going to have to go by their word. After that i believe fluid changes and scheduled maintenance can be done yourself, or by any other shop and as long as you keep detailed records you should be fine. |

I made the mistake of not keeping all oil change receipts and such, although I have had zero problems with mine,I have 22,000 miles since May of last year and it runs perfect! You'll really love the bike when you get used to handling it. | |

| Wants Better Weather ![]() | I'm actually in the process of looking for a MC shop nin my area. I have 627 on my bike and the stealer wants almost $350 for the intitial service. Per what i have read on here, thats about 100-150 over the average (given i do live in NJ, and everything is more expensive here) Hopefully i find something soon before i break down and take it them for the sheer fact i want to be back on it.... |

| DC must be worse than Jersey. My dealership quoted me $480 for the initial service plus parts! I haven't found anything in writing yet, but the tech at the shop is the one that said a Suzuki certified tech has to do it. Of course the salesman said the exact opposite. ("I never take me bikes to the shop") |
