I've had the bike since May of 2005. It is one of two Suzuki's that I own at this time, so I only have about 3000 miles on it. (the other bike is a retro mod 1979 GS1000)

As far as the pipe goes, I think it is by far the best sonding pipe for the Suzuki 805 motor on the market. Working for a dealership I sold alot of different pipes, adn I chose this one for the deep sound. It does get up and run well with this setup, too, as I have gained about 5 mpg along with better acceleration and a smoother idle.

Welcome Nubsy1,
I too am waiting on that same exhaust for my M50, hopefully it will be in this week. Your bike is the first M50 I've seen with that pipe, and I have to say, I will have no regrets on the looks. I'm getting the slash cut tip with mine.

nubsy,
1 question for you though, for the passenger pegs, what vendor and part did you use to change them. Last time I looked, Kuryakyn didn't have passenger peg adapters for the M50.

You have to be really careful with what you order from Kury. Many of the items that I ordered which they say will work do not.

I made my own adapters to fit through one of the bolt holes for the stock peg braket. This lowered the pegs @ 1" and moved them forward a bit too. She likes this setup a lot better, and they cost much less than the floorboard option. I think they look better than floorboards too.

I did this mod a long time ago, but I am pretty sure that I used the Harley adapters and then drilled and tapped out one of the holes on the frame to accept them. If you look closely you can see that I needed to space out the pegs a bit. All in all I think it turned out pretty nice and almost looks stock.

Where did you order the saddlemen explorer seat from? I am still debating b/t that and the Corbin. But nobody seems to have the explorer.

Hi Nubsy1,
Nice bike, youve made some definate improvements there.
Did you forget to mention the gauge on the right of the handlebar, is it a tach ?
if so where did you get it and was it an easy install ?
Jeff

WOW!!

The saddlemen seat was ordered through Parts Unlimited - 10 month wait for that one!

License plate frame ordered through Custom Chrome - in stock and under $40 US.

The gauge is a Cobra tachometer for a C50. Had to do a little machining to get it to fit as the ben in the handlebar interferes a little. On the C50 it mounts to the left h-bar clamp and ends up centered over the speedo. I think it looks good like this - sorta racy!

Oh yeah - I also have Kuryakyn wide chrome levers and slid the fork tubes up in the clamps @ 1" to lower the front.

I'm debating the chrome radiator cover. What do you guys think?

I think the chrome radiator cover looks great on the M's. I don't have one, but have seen pictures. The stock cover is fugly and cheap. Nubs, I'm so pumped now that I've finally seen that exhaust on an M. I'm chomping at the bit to come home and find it on my porch this week. I've got the Kury iso pegs on the front, with their M50 adapter and they work. I have to take a look at the rear adapter tonight to see what I can do. They have a peg that has the extension built in that I could probably do some jerri rigging for it to work, but I'll try to take a look at that peg at a local dealer before I commit.

Hey Ital!

Take your time installing that exhaust. The instructions are not the greatest and the system comes in about 20 pieces w/ the heat shields and all. Probably took me an easy 1 1/2 hours to install on a bike lift with mechanics that do this sort of thing all day. Results are worth it though. It did run ok without the FI controller, but is much smoother now - no more backfires on decel!

Good luck with it - if you ever get to the cheese state with your bike I would love to see it.

Out!

Nubsy. Great job on your M.
I agree that the Roadhouse 2:1 exhaust looks sweet. Your pillion seat looks like the most comfortable I've seen on an M50. It also looks like it provides great support for the captain as well. What kind of feedback have your passengers given?
Good to have another M50 enthusiast on board.
Ride safe...post often.
