i think it takes a little more than that. not much though.

here's a thread that leads to other threads to answer all your questions:

gar4mayor thanks for input, but i just want to disable it. not remove it. be from a maintenance look at it. i should just be able to plug the hole where it gets its air from and that in turn doesnt allow any air to go to the pair valve. which then doesnt let it push air into the exhaust because again it has no air going to the valve..
i just rode it around , no popping yet which is good, and no fault messages great. thanks danr aswell. does anybody else have any input to make positively sure im doing this right. thanks

When I had my C50 and did pipes and air intake that's all I did. I determined that it was too much of a PITA to remove all the plumbing and block off the intake port's on the cylinder's. Had ZERO problems. Just Got a large enough Sheet metal screw wrapped it in electrical tape and screwed it in the pair valve intake in back of the air filter, it's not rocket science, eliminate the air supply to the valve and it's disabled.

my fault. i was thinking that you wanted to disable it for removal. i must have had too many rum and nyquil cocktails that day.

I've heard that there is a removal kit available for the M50. If you remove and just disconnect it without the kit, your engine light will be constant. I don't know who makes the kit.

disconnect your aircleaner assy from the intake duct. you dont have to remove the fliter. just leave it all together. the intake duct clamps to the top of the air cleaner just underneath the tank.you have to look be hind that duct and you will see the bolt that clamps it to the assy. loosen that, dont take it completely of just loosen it. then looking at the side veiw of he bike straight at the filter. you will see close the that duct clamp 2 screws 1 at the front and 1 at the aft of the filter assy. take those screws out and then pull out and down to remove the intake assy from the intake duct. now it should e hangin by just a rubber tube an a plug connector on the back side of the intake assy. squeeze the clamp that holds the rubber tube on and disconnect the tube. now this sounds cheap but go and get one of those sharpe permanent markers, cut the pocket clip off with a razor, then just stick that in the tube you just disconnected from the aircleaner. just leave it hanging oh and put that clamp around it just to make sure that cap doesnt come out. your air cleaner will cover that hose just hangin there. that tube is where the pair valve gets its air from.so if theres no air going to it then it cant push air into the exhaust. now i have no poping or anything like that. hope that helps. thats just the cheap way to do this. later bro.

Awesome..no such thing as a cheap in this hobby/way of life so when something comes along I'm all for it!. Have you noticed a difference in the running since you did it tho?

ive noticed no more back firing/ popping on decel. but i have the highway hawk turndown exhaust. if you have aftermarket pipes that are the long pipes that go back to the rear wheel. you probably wont have that anyway, but mine are real short so i can hear mine popping and backfiring. theres no performance increase from this. i dont notice any smoother running. this mod is to just get rid of the backfiring that is usually common with aftermarket exhaust installation
